Elton clearly cares about her, but he just used an example of music from "the early stuff" which tbh, is more of an insult to Gaga, because clearly Bad Romance, and You & I are not "the early stuff".

You talking about what ifs, could haves and maybes isn't relevant to what he said.
He named specific examples and indicated she was reviving those sounds. To which mine and others replies were that it would come off desperate.

Actually, he knows exactly what he's talking about. Y&I was written during the TFM-era, although it was the start of her trying to mix rock into her music.

Quite frankly, Elton John's opinion doesn't really do much for me one way or the other, as I've never been interested in the music he makes and his taste in music doesn't stray too far from his own. As well, the way he digs into Artpop so matter-of-factly, and yet was perfectly willing to join Gaga on stage for a (pretty awful) mashup of "[Gaga] and the Jets" with "Artpop", I dunno, it doesn't sit right with me.
