Okay, well. I stand corrected.

If there is an artist that has changed COMPLETELY is Gaga

No... Gaga has always giving me arrogant bitch teas. That is why I love her, she is very arrogant but very respectful. You have not heard one bad story about Gaga being a disrespectful twit.

True, but it shows that she's still just as defensive about her image as she always was. You can tell she abhors being misunderstood, but the general public misunderstands her all the time (BTW-Express Yourself ****). It's like she's expecting her "avant-garde" music to catch on with everybody.

I hear about her saying she invented this, she invented that, she is the best songwriters of our generation, etc. It gets old. I'm not saying she can't change, because change keeps things interesting. But this attitude is just a plain old turn-off.

Lies. Gaga came in during a time where that was the certain trend.
She may have capitalized on it the most, but she definitely didnt start it.
I mean, even Beyonce was working with Thierry Mugler in 2008 and Ciara had some very
"Avant-Garde" aspects in the "Go Girl" video when Gaga was still rocking leotards and shoulder pads.

I don't think she ever said she was the best songwriter of this generation, and obviously she couldn't say she started trends in pop music fashion when nobody had heard of her...

I don't really get arrogance from this statement. She should know and acknowledge that she is very talented and good at what she does. That's confidence. It turns into arrogance when you say you started something or that "this will be the album of the decade." Stuff like that doesn't need to be acknowledged and it really makes her look pretentious and think she's above all else.

Some of you still need to read the article,
Read, process, formulate a cohesive thought, re-read and reply.

I don't think Gaga changed at all. She may have changed some aspects of her image, but her "concept" remains the same since she started.

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
avant-garde (French pronunciation: [avɑ̃ɡaʁd]) means "advance guard" or "vanguard".[1] The adjective form is used in English to refer to people or works that are experimental or innovative, particularly with respect to art, culture, and politics.
Avant-garde represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural realm. The notion of the existence of the avant-garde is considered by some to be a hallmark of modernism, as distinct from postmodernism. Many artists have aligned themselves with the avant-garde movement and still continue to do so, tracing a history from Dada through the Situationists to postmodern artists such as the Language poets around 1981.

I think this is necessary.

They're both boasting. The "album of the decade" thing gets way overplayed.
Quote:
"I promise you, I'll never let you down. And not for nothing: The album's finished and it's f---ing really good," Gaga tearfully told the audience, who simultaneous held up signs that read "Born This Way" backward. "So whatever this is, whatever you just did for all of us ... I promise to give you the greatest album of this decade, just for you."
|
Heat of the moment, maybe, but I think she's no more pretentious/stuck-up than she ever was.
