It looks like the top will be very close. There is a significant chance that a dark horse will win. I mean, imagine if Love Thing gets the number one.

LAST TIME LOVER
Spice
"He's resistant not persistent,
It didn't stop me from homin' in...
'Cause I'm choosy not a floozy,
I get my hit and then I run with it."
==========
Song Meaning:
The idea behind this particular song has always made me feel gooey and fun inside.
"Last Time Lover" illustrates a story of an experienced woman taking the virginity of an inexperienced guy, with use of her feminine wiles.
In correlation with the motif behind the record, "Girl Power", each track of the album dealt with a different aspect or specification of the idea. "Last Time Lover" encourages the use of sexual charm as a weapon to be deployed along with any other skills that would help to get a result.
==========
Background:
The song was co-written by the Spice Girls with Andy Watkins and Paul Wilson. The track "Last Time Lover", was originally called "First Time Lover" and was about the loss of a girl's virginity, but was discarded and changed to a song full of provocations, where sex is the main issue. The proceeded on to writing three more songs that made it on to the Spice album which were "Something Kinda Funny", "Last Time Lover" and "Naked". The songs is one of the few to give their debut album, Spice, an R&B feel to it.
==========
Lowest rate: Kworb - 4
Highest rate: Lately 1814, TheOnlyOne - 10
Average score: 7.03
==========
Footnotes:- "Last Time Lover" remains the only track from the Spice record to have never been performed live.
==========
A saucy and sexy track, yet far too bland. Great song; falls short in comparison to the rest of the record. Geri's vocals also stand out a bit here --- and that's usually never a good thing.
7/10.

MOVE OVER
Spiceworld
"Next phase, next stage, next craze, next wave."
==========
Background:
In early 1997, the Spice Girls signed a multi-million sponsorship deal with Pepsi. The girls were featured in television commercials for the product, in which "Move Over" was used as the theme song. There were three commercials altogether. They also released their own Pepsi cans with each individual girl on the cans.
The live version on the single is taken from their Istanbul concert recorded on October 12, 1997. The album version was included on the group's album Spiceworld, released the previous year, and was also included on the group's Greatest Hits album in 2007. Although not as publicized as their previous Pepsi single "Step to Me", it was marketed in the same manner.

Lowest rate: dinorel - 2
Highest rate: YSL, Bad Wolf, ClassicMainstream, Great Username, TheOnlyOne - 10
Average score: 7.19

They put the PEPSI jingle... on their album... STAHP! The weakest, yet perhaps the most energized track on the album. The only real "filler" on the record, which I guess can be seen as a testament to the flow of Spiceworld?
Yeah, don't include a jingle on an album, especially one that goes nowhere. It's a lazy, cheap, and irritating tactic. "Move Over" is the bomb-diggity, though.
7/10.

THE LADY IS A VAMP
Spiceworld
"That's all in the past, legends built to last...
...but she's got something new.
She's a power girl in a 90's world,
She's a down town swinging dude."
==========
Song Meaning:
A very camp reference to many noteworthy femme fatales and archetypes of "Girl Power!" throughout the past century. Similar to what Madonna did with "Vogue".

Lowest rate: dinorel - 0
Highest rate: TheOnlyOne, arkl, supaspaz, superben, madonnas () - 10
Average score: 7.2

A corny ragtime song with dreadful lyrics. I'd like to think that this is The Spice Girls at their worst. "Scary, Baby, Ginger, Posh / Sporty, yes now that's your lot / We're the Spice Girls, ready to go / Ladies & gents, will you please take your seats / And we hope that you enjoy the show"; though, what with the events that were to follow with this album (and afterwards), this almost seems like a farewell note in retrospect, don't you think?
7/10. (At the time I gave the song its rating. )

Not Last Time Lover, TLC killed that.
I wonder what I gave it.

NAKED
Spice
"Naiveté and childhood left behind; deprived of the goodness of mankind...
Past encounters have made her strong... strong enough to carry on and on."
==========
Song Meaning/Interpretations:
The meaning for this little ditty has always been somewhat unclear, to me at least. "Naked" evidently deals with vulnerability and the step from girls to women and how this process made the group stronger, something they were experiencing at that moment. Literally, it seems to be more of an illustration of feeling naked, rather than the physical clothes-less state. I think a mentally scarred young woman (possibly sexually/mentally abused as a child) seems to be a literal representation?

I have a strong feeling that this particular song was slated to be the 'controversial' track on the record; a sort of 'Anti-Spice' track to stroke the critics. For what it was, it doesn't quite live up to its expectations. Only in the sense that it could've owned up to its title a bit better.
Sexy, without being too raunchy, worked for their market demographic, I guess. Though, I'm not sure they had little girls in mind when writing much of this album.
8.5/10

"Last Time Lover" is FLAWLESS. So damn sexy. It deserved to be a bit higher.
I absolutely love "The Lady Is a Vamp." A campy delight and a perfect album closer.
"Naked" was my favorite Spice track back in the day. It made me feel kind of naughty for liking it. I think it still holds up rather well.

I'm pretty sure I gave every song in the Top 20 except overrated Goodbye a 10. Really such a flawless catalogue, I can't be upset over any song placing anymore.
Praying Saturday Night Divas, Too Much, and If U Can't Dance make the Top 10 though.
