It looks as if some of you are unaware of what "overrated" means. Someone is overrated when they're given too much credit or are credited for things they don't deserve to be credited for.
Here's what I think. Listen up!
Britney Spears is not overrated. Sure, she doesn't write all of her music and she doesn't always sing live, but she is Britney Spears. She changed the face of pop music and has accomplished more culturally than all of the other girls combined. She is hardly ever given credit for the things she does and she's totally okay with that.
Beyonce is slightly overrated. We all know that she likes to take credit for songwriting when she doesn't actually write her songs. She also uses pre-recorded vocals a lot and makes people think she can sing effortlessly while dancing when she can't. However, Beyonce is a multi-talented singer, dancer, producer, etc.
Lady Gaga is not overrated. Lady Gaga writes all of her lyrics, composes all of her melodies, co-produces all of her songs, comes up with the treatments for all of her videos, sings live, can sing really well, can play the piano, dance, direct, act, etc. Her fans give her A LOT of credit, but that's because the bitch can do everything and deserves all the credit.
Katy Perry and Rihanna are not overrated because no one gives them credit for anything. They're not viewed as "serious musicians".
Adele is slightly overrated. While she is an amazing singer, people seem to place her upon a pedestal because she just stands there and sings. Just because she doesn't dance around in panties, doesn't mean she's more talented. Couldn't you argue that being able to sing AND dance at the same time takes more talent than standing/sitting and singing? Yes, you could.
I guess my vote would be for Adele, or Beyonce, but I don't think the choices are very good. You should have included Nicki Minaj or Lana Del Rey.

The songwriting part isn't true. She wrote all the lyrics and vocals for the songs on the Survivor album herself. The vocal arrangements for a lot of the songs Dangerously In Love and B'Day she did herself. There has never been a song that Bey has songwriting credit for where she hasn't made changes specific changes to (just check out the demo for Irreplaceable, or attentively listen to Smack Into You to notice changes in instrumentation and vocal runs).
And while Bey may use pre-recorded vocals at times, she still has plenty of live performances that show she is perfectly capable of moving and singing at the same time.

For me, although I love Adele, she's most overrated.
She's a great singer, and writes good songs, but the public treats her like a goddess. Adele's a great artist, and is the hot topic right now, however every thing she touches turns to gold, and her songs are all great, but I don't necessarily they should be topping the charts.
Gaga & Beyoncé I put in the same category, because they are already above the rest of the competition with their all around talent (songwriting, singing, dancing, performing), and can deliver a good album with solidly performing singles. They've both had their times when they were overrated, however right now they are just rolling along. Both of them have done pretty well in the past 12 months, with Gaga having a lot more success than Beyonce. The thing is that they aren't new faces, so everyone isn't following their every move, we all know what they can do.
Britney isn't overrated at all. After the release of Femme Fatale, it only took her 5/6 months to disappear. No one talks about her as much as they do Adele, Gaga, Beyonce, and she's not exactly delivering hit after hit either. She's just there.
Katy and Rihanna aren't deserving of the success they have, and they have very little cultural impact like Britney, Gaga, & Beyonce. All they do is deliver #1's, they aren't overrated because no one is drooling over them like they do to Adele. A lot of the time, people know the song & not the artist.
If you were to ask someone on the street to describe them:
'Oh she's the girl that sings umbrella & we found love, right?'
'Oh, she sings hot and cold"
They couldn't say anything about them but that.

1. Rihanna - what actually does she do???
2. Beyonce - overly manufactured, overly planned, overly boring

Gaga in no way can be even considered in this bracket. she is an amazing songwriter foremost... she is a talented singer who is only going to get better with more confidence etc.. overexposed should not be mistaken for over-rated...
Beyonce and Rihi are easily the two most incredibly over rated chicks in the game.... WTF..? i mean why is this even a question???
Beyonce hardly does much anything which is her own! Her artistry is weak.. she claims she is inspired constantly but bitch all you doing is copying... SIT DOWN
Rihanna.. lol.. - she sings what she's given - that's about it...
BOTH are EXTREMELY over rated..

I voted Katy Perry, but if I could, my vote would switch to Adele. Her album is a gem, as well as her voice, but everyone treats her like a goddess and the one who "saved music". Also, I would never go to her concert, because she isn't very entertaining when she just stands in one spot and sings.
