Also, these music videos better be the ****ing source file from a hard drive. If I'm hypothetically paying $20 a month, these videos better be so HD that they make Youtube's 1080p look like 144p. I want to be able to see the cells of the artists...

Maybe they'll ask Britney to be apart of it once she regains relevancy and the ability to breath without her respirator.

This thread. If you want to pay $10 for TIDAL, do so. If you don't, don't.
I personally don't stream anyways so I won't be buying into this. My only issue with this is the deception and the idea that "pay $20 and you'll be able to hear the music in better quality" when the truth is you won't be able to hear a difference unless you've already invested in very expensive headphones.

Y'all actually think the people involved are involved because of "relevancy"? Any big-name artist who wants to be involved will obviously be allowed to, otherwise this thing won't work. Those involved currently are people who are connected to Jay Z/want to try and make a few more bucks.

Yeah, sure. You have an apartment of your own too, I bet.
I have a nice paying job, so I have way more than enough to survive and get things I think are important TO ME, not the next frivolous cool trend because the hottest artists around are promoting it. I felt the same about Beats, and I feel the same about this new fad. I have no reason to take my anger out on my boss. Make some sense.

No offense, but if you really had your own income with a house, a car, etc that you are paying out of YOUR own pocket without the help from parents, I highly doubt you'd be saying that people are cheap for not being able to afford $10/$20 monthly for music.
I can do nothing but assume a person has no experience with major bills to be saying insensitive stuff like this. You clearly don't understand.

Although, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep a Tidal membership, $10 is relatively not that much money. That's two Starbucks drinks. That's about nine songs on iTunes. A large Big Mac meal with a milkshake. A T-Shirt.
Any decently responsible person can budget around to afford this
|
Okay!!
Is it such a crime to be asked to invest $10 into the music industry every month? Most people will spend that much on one movie. I never realized how entitled people feel to having music.

I feel bad when I pirate, cause that's someone sweat and blood. But I also don't want to pay for every album just to LISTEN to it. Some albums have a short shelf life for me. Streaming is the middle ground. You don't have to commit to one artist/album/song, but you're also not ripping off anybody.
Now I'm not even debating Tidal vs Spotify. I'm making a case for Spotify Premium and Tidal Premium. $10 a month on either service is really a steal.
|
It's a myth that all artists, songwriters, producers, etc. are screwed because of Spotify's compensation plan. Sure, some of the big artists are making less than they would have if everybody purchased their songs on iTunes, but Spotify has been revolutionary for some smaller artists. Spotify in and of itself is a platform for community-driven music awareness, so that alone has done wonders for new artists.
I agree that pirating your entire music library is idiotic, seeing as even listening to Spotify for free is giving artists marginal compensation whereas pirating isn't.

What I really was trying to say is that artists deserve money for their work and because things got so heated I felt the need to take a really strong opinion in something that ethically is actually really grey area for me. The comment about food and clothes did not mean that you need to sacrifice any of that to pay for a streaming service or that you should have to buy Tidal even if you can't afford it.

They're literally false advertising and saying that you'll hear songs with different instruments, yeah it sounds clearer, but it doesn't magically make instruments appear
|
WOW, I didn't even bother to watch the video at first but that really is pathetic
Literally false advertising. The instrumental just conveniently gets more dramatic with more and louder instruments when it switches to lossless. The difference in reality is negligible at best and mostly placebo.

This whole thing rubs me the wrong way, you know what if they pull their music off Spotify then whatever. It honestly rubs me the wrong way to the point where I won't even go out of my way to go buy their new albums. I don't have the time.
Also love Doc and Cap10.

Personally, I don't watch enough TV to pay for Hulu, so if a show I want to watch isn't available for free to watch on their website, I will scour the web for it or give up and keep it pumping. But I like my movies, and Netflix makes it easy to watch with good quality, something that the average person cares about.
For most people, as long as the quality isn't absolute trash, no one cares about the quality of the music file. So when you can listen to it on YouTube or snatch a quick download or play it on Spotify for free, there's really no incentive for this Tidal mess.
|
I personally need music on the go with no ads or any play limits and the ability to choose which songs to listen to. Spotify free is not enough for me personally. So if Tidal can offer me music + HD music videos and more TBA then why not?? And all for 9.99.
Sounds like a good deal to me.

What kind of selection does Tidal have anyways? Like, can I listen to REO Speedwagon,
Debussy, 2NE1, The Ronettes, and video game soundtracks, for instance?
