Yeah. I'm a bit confused. I definitely saw some people who have seen the film saying she could go supporting, but the trailer definitely makes her the obvious lead (moreso than Gyllehaal, even). Idk.

It is her story and I will fume more than I did when Alicia Vikander was campaigned as Supporting for a Lead role and unlike Vikander I actually love Amy Adams.

No, she definitely fits Supporting according to the reviews. Nocturnal Animals is kind of a film within a film. Amy's character spend the whole movie reading Jake's character's book, which is a story of its own, and having flashback of their past relationship.

The trailer features her more because Jake's storyline is the thriller part of the movie, so obviously they're not going to spoil it.

For Amy I think it depends of Arrival. She's 100% lead there and got raves. If they're confident with it, they're sending her for Lead with it, and Supporting with Nocturnal Animals to try a Kate Winslet at the GGs 2009 .

ddd now I'm imagining the fumes if Amy "Coattails" Adams became the twelfth actor in history to land two nominations in one Oscar ceremony (following Moore, Foxx, and Blanchett this century).

That probably wouldn't work out in her favor, though. Four of the last five actresses to be double nominated went home empty-handed (Weaver, Thompson, Moore, Blanchett).



Perhaps best case scenario is that she gets nominated for Supporting with Nocturnal Animals and "snubbed" from Lead Actress with Arrival. That gives her an unbeatable narrative that she is both "snubbed" and "overdue."

The cinematography in the trailer alone has me SHOOK.

If Amy gets two nominations and her count of them (with no wins) goes up

Viola wanted the lead nom. for The Help because she wasn't a supportive character, Octavia was. And she rightfully won.
