i think dangerous woman is kinda underrated if that's possible. the chorus is so strong and the vocoder at the end really makes the song
It's so amazing, and I totally agree!

The music video is not the tea, but Ariana slays nonetheless

That’s My Girl A BOP. Woo. Their best song!
To be honest, I wasn't really feeling this song at first; it was a bit all over the place. However, after a few more listens, I was hooked. It's probably top 3 on Starboy for me at this point. This song is so energetic and it makes me want to run for some reason. The chorus explodes and the production is fast-paced and menancing.
#19: Calvin Harris - "This Is What You Came For" ft. Rihanna
Like #20, I wasn't SUPER keen on this song when I first heard it. I thought it was a little uninspired and dull. However, once I began to appreciate it for what it was, a harmless dance track, I was amazed. It is so incredibly catchy and Rihanna sounds flawless and looks beautiful in the film clip. Plus, the whole Nils Sjoberg controversy was a kii. "This Is What You Came For" is a bop and not much more, but it doesn't need to be, it fulfills its role perfectly.
#18: Fifth Harmony - "Work From Home" ft. Ty Dolla $ign
What a year it has been for the quintet. They continued to release bop after bop, but they released their best one first. "Work From Home" is a electropop banger, incorporating elements of trap and it sounds flawless. The production is captivating and Camila's ad libs are sensational. Fun fact, by peaking at #4 on the BB Hot 100, Fifth Harmony became the first girl group to go top 5 in the US in 10 years.
It seems to be a running theme in this update that I wasn't totally convinced on first listen. Yet somehow, Tove converted me. "Cool Girl" is just so, for lack of a better word, cool. It's cold and aloof. The production is bouncy and I love how the message of the song is presented in a detached and unapologetic way; do whatever you want, I don't care. Tove came for blood and that's what she drew. This electropop track is a worthy comeback.
If you're looking for pop perfection by a non-pop girl, look no further than "Gemini Feed". What an absolute tune. Banks sounds amazing on this track. I love the use of the twin star sign 'Gemini' as a symbol for inseparability to someone else which I have never heard done before. The chorus is grand and the video throws in a fantastic pun as Banks is sitting there with gems in her eyes: GEM-IN-EYE FEED
Ah, my Australian, bisexual king. Josef sounds flawless crooning over the progressively intensifying beat. Josef is such an amazing individual and following his work is a delight. "Paradise" is a love song of epic proportions. He longs for his partner to leave for paradise with him and it's superb.
As I mentioned in my reflection on "Talk Me Down", Troye Sivan has had a profound impact upon my life. I only really started listening to his music this year after I purchased Blue Neighbourhood on impulse, and I am so glad that I made that rash decision. This song is particularly poignant, yet saddening. It deals with the realisation that when two massive parts of your life conflict, one has to give: "So if I'm losing a piece of me, maybe I don't want heaven." This song always makes me emotional when I listen to it. It's actually a song of empowerment, telling you that you always need to put your own happiness first without compromise. People like Troye Sivan who are unapologetically upfront with their lyrics and their stories really do help and I thank my lucky stars every day that I discovered this gem of a singer because he has truly changed my life.
In the words of Lady Gaga herself, "Perfect Illusion" is a song "about modern ecstasy... We found our sweet, simple, ragey way of saying it. I get this sick adrenaline rush every time I hear it". This rock-inspired song is powerful and her vocals are on point as always. The key change ended a few careers and after hearing "Perfect Illusion", I was so excited to see what journey she would take us on with Joanne. A worthy comeback single for Lady Gaga, and even though it didn't impact the charts as much as I had hoped, it definitely impacted a few of my playlists.
Have you ever heard of the saying, "Talent always wins"? No? Let me give you an example. Take "Needed Me". This track broke Kelly Clarkson's record for the most weeks in the Top 10 without ever impacting the Top 5. "Needed Me" is also Rihanna's longest charting single on the BB Hot 100, surpassing "We Found Love". Furthermore, "Needed Me" is the most streamed song by a female in the US, ever. This is an example of how TALENT ALWAYS WINS. This song is a bad bitch anthem. It has given us the iconic, "Didn't they tell you that I was a savage?" and "You neeeeeeeeeed-ed ME". Enough said.
Perrie went the **** in on this one. This track is super fun and is the first Little Mix track that I've ever downloaded and listened to on repeat. Their harmonies are flawless and the lyrics are relatable on every level. I can't help by smile when I hear this track. And the girls finish the countdown before the unveiling of my official top 10 singles of 2016.
