Broadway is breaking box office records and Hedwig is one of the best broadway shows in years.
Video games are also breaking sales records and are becoming increasingly deep.
I'd say the only other mediums that are suffering a bit right now are literature and visual arts.
Just an interesting observation.

its sad. id say that the lowering in quality of mainstream music is a big reason. the general opinion is that even if you like current music all current music is terrible and all current artists are talentless. (thanks katy)
