Uee talking about After School at Sport Seoul Interview
Q : (In your opinion) When will you graduate from After School?
Uee : Honestly, I think it’s not too far off. It could be in 3~4 years but, I vaguely feel that ‘Graduation time is coming!’. When I feel the stage doesn’t look empty without me, I feel a lil bit sad. I have this thought, so it makes (the performance) on stage very important to me. I treasure the moment when I sing and dance. When I’m about to gradute, I want to have my own quality time for few months.
Q: There were a lot of rumours since (AS) is a girl group…
Uee : There’s a rumour that said we’re not on good terms, since we keep changing the members, of course there’s a hierarchy in the group. The junior get her make-up done first, and the senior can be more relaxed. Of course we never had a (physical) fight. When Kahi unni was still around, of course there’s time when the members got scolded. There’s a rule for senior-junior in the group, so there was a misunderstanding. I hope there’ll be no disharmony between us and we can last forever.
Q : Now you’ve become a ‘senior’ as a singer…
Uee : I was 20 when I appeared in ‘Introduce Star Friend’. Haha. I think I have a lot of things to do in the future, and when I see the dongsaengs I think they are ‘Very awesome’. I met some rookies through (during) Golden Rainbow. And what could be the similiarity between us? We’re bold. They know how to look at the camera, how to do well, etc by theirselves. They made a debut after a perfect preparation, and I’m jealous of their brave vibe. It’s the same with After School members. The recent new members have their own specialty such as playing instrument, language, etc. I don’t have any. So I asked the CEO ‘Why did you choose me?’ and he just said I have a good vibe.
Q : It seems like Actress Uee sounds more familiar than After School Uee.
Uee : I’m kinda sad. Since (Golden Rainbow) is a weekend drama, the elders see me as ‘Actress Uie’. I still feel more attached towards After School. I remember when After School won #1. At some point, the concept changed and we think of it as a new challenge, but as for fans, I think they gradually forget it, so it’s really regretful. And without us realizing, I think Orange Caramel gets more familiar than After School. Just like 4Minute and SNSD, we can sing a song that everyone can enjoy, but I think because of our strong image(?) We can’t get that kind of songs.
