it's unsettling, to say the least

i need KP4 to be more CYB and less TIHWD. i'm nervous though, she always seems to surprise me. and sometimes not in a good way

the first part of your post is flat out correct. artists need to evolve. i'm not saying COMPLETELY, as in, i'm not asking her to come out with a full on hard metal rock record, or a polka yodeling album. i'm just saying she needs to evolve more than the TD -> Prism "progression." rather, she needs to follow through with her evolution. the Prism bonus tracks are a really great direction, and yet they were made simple bonus tracks. so i hope she goes full out with maturing and evolving on the next album, that's all

She can make more stripped-back, acoustic music whatever age she is whether she's young or old but her time as a pop star kind of has a shelf-life. That's why to be honest I'd rather have a few more pop albums first before she starts going for a more stripped-back sound

PRISM was a fantastic album (my favourite Katy album) but I don't want another album just like that anymore. I don't want a mix of any of her albums. Influences, at most. But I would prefer something completely new. If she wants to stay current and relevant she needs to change it up and try something new, but keep her radio friendly presence and pounding pop anthems. Just a different style. That mini movie of her in the car with the red/orange wig and creepy music was great.

I'd love a double disc album. If she really wants to release an acoustic album, that'd be the best way to do it. Nobody would buy an acoustic album by Katy standalone. Market it as a new 90's dance influenced album with a bonus acoustic disc of all new songs and that'd work too.

That's what I'm thinking too. Fill the first disc with bops like Black Stallion and Walking on Gheys and the second disc could be the acoustic one. Written and produced entirely by her.

I said it'd flop, I didn't say it had to be terrible too. Katy can't produce, she needs producers like Butch Walker, Greg Wells or even Greg Kurstin to help with the production. She can write all of the songs tho. That'd be cute.

And it'd basically be like two 8-track EPs, so the quality of each disc should be higher than a corresponding 16-track album which would be prone to filler.

I don't find it essential for Katy to write + produce every song, let's all chill. Of course she could take some producing lessons, you never know. But yes, she CAN write the acoustic record(when the time comes) herself, only.
