"Incanto", the second single from Tiziano's greatest hits compilation TZN, was different for him in many ways. The folk sound was new, as was the fact that he wrote it together with someone else. It's an uplifting love song with hardly any drama, which was also a first. The song stood out so much that he decided to put it on TZN, because it wouldn't fit on a regular studio album.
Tiziano performed "Incanto" as a special guest at Sanremo (along with a medley of hits), sending it to #1 on iTunes and #4 on the singles chart. The album also went back to #1. Many critics noted that his amazing performance that night had overshadowed all of the contestants.

The highest rated TZN single is "Il Vento", a song that he wrote for his debut album but ended up in a drawer for almost 15 years. For his greatest hits album he thought it would be fun to go far back in time and re-record some of these ancient songs.
"Il Vento" was released as the fourth single from the album, but it wasn't received well. People thought the video did not fit the song at all, and it barely made a dent on the iTunes, Spotify and YouTube charts. It is his only single in the digital era that is not certified, and is by far the biggest flop he has ever released. Fortunately his fans on ATRL appreciate it more.
Next to go is "Sere Nere", arguably his biggest classic and signature song. After the lukewarm reception of "Perverso", it was this song that became a massive hit for him and firmly established him as a leading figure in Italian pop music. The Spanish version "Tardes Negras" was a big hit as well in Latin America.
Tiziano always says it's the most important song in his discography, but it's also the hardest one to sing, especially now that his voice has become more baritonal.
Quote:
Tiziano's diary:
Nothing will be the same anymore after the release of this song, and it’s a sentiment that pervades me in an almost violent way.
There’s a Tiziano "before” and there will be a Tiziano “after”, it’s a sensation I can’t distance myself from, it’s strange, and the title of this song is also vaguely strange: "Sere Nere".
In questo giorno di metà settembre we lose another classic ballad. Tiziano needed several years to finish writing "Il Regalo Più Grande", which is uncommon as he usually starts and finishes a song in one session. Vocally it's another very difficult song, but it shows off his range well as he goes higher and higher at the end before suddenly dropping all the way down.
The song was a big hit and the biggest driver of Alla Mia Età's sales, his second diamond certified album. It had some success in Spain as a duet with Amaia Montero, and is even known in Mexico where he released a version with RBD's Anahí and Dulce María.
Up next is "La Fine", his only single on which he has no writing credit (other than "Mi Credo"). Rapper Nesli had an underground hit with this two years before the release of L'Amore È Una Cosa Semplice, and Tiziano was struck by how much the song mirrored his own life. He decided to cover it since the album was still lacking an introspective melancholy song.
Released as the album's seventh and final single, it did not receive much airplay, but was still well supported by fans and the public and managed a platinum certification. It was a poignant moment in both the Amore and Lo Stadio tours.
I like La fine, but it is a very emotional song to listen to, I honestly thought he wrote it when I first heard it and to be honest, he should have as to me it suits him far better than it does Nesli, just being honest. It feels like it's Tiziano's song and nobody else's if that makes sense.
The central ballad and title track of L'Amore È Una Cosa Semplice barely misses the top 5. This song was mainly used to promote the album abroad, as Spanish and German versions (with Malú and Cassandra Steen, respectively) were released in the middle of 2012. Neither had any success, making this his first era that failed to make any waves outside of Italy.
In Italy it became the sixth single of the album and was tied to L'Amore È Imperfetto, a critically panned film with a lesbian theme. Scenes from it are interspersed throughout the music video. The single was a moderate hit, not realizing its potential because it was released so late in the era.
