Now that a truly good album is for once the focus here -
Erotica was the first Madonna album I heard in full and it contains the first non-single Madonna song I'd ever heard.
It was early January 2004, I was 15-going-on-16
I've since learned that I tend to be drawn toward the albums that polarize people, the "difficult" ones that represent commercial and (perceived) creative slumps for the artist in question. Erotica was Patient Zero in this regard and I was curious about it. This was also right around the time that a LOT of my most beloved artists all slammed into my life simultaneously. So picture 15lin in the office at home at 1am with the door closed, so the heater on full blast is enveloping this tiny room in a muggy heat that honestly was the perfect introduction to Erotica.
I listened to Bedtime Stories next
and then Ray Of Light
and Music
And here I am more than 12 years later, past midnight, in a hot, muggy room, listening to Erotica. The feelings
when this base hardly ever reached the lower half of page 1 not to mention the bottom of page 2 where I found it this morning.
