Well it certainly would be a happy medium between old fans who love all of her old stuff and new fans who want something more "current." Certainly it is risky because, like you said, some of those songs are classics. But Mariah has covered classics by other people before and did it justice. I dont know, it's a tough call. I suppose one way she can appease fans like us is if she were to do some stripped versions in Vegas?
I just dont want the new #1s CD to just be a bunch of old songs that we all already have. It would only appeal to collectors and really avid fans.
