If it's true they're taking someone else's script and adapting it, I think that is a brilliant idea, and should become something the show is known for. Like giving indie writers their big break, it fits so perfectly with what American Horror Story is all about! It will need Ryan and Brad's signature touch to not loose itself though and become a dead end franchise.
Here for me writing season 7 American Horror Story: Woodlands
Some people's fanfic are so good, that you end up liking the sound of the fanfic more than what Ryan is cooking up. So this could be great!
It would take a **** load of money and persuasion to let the creator of Slender Man let them use the idea.
He literally has all the rights to it, no one is allowed to use it, and hes pretty damn cautious after those 12 year old girls tried to kill their classmate because of "slender Man".
Slender man would be cool! Maybe not as the sole theme/focus of the entire season, but as a big plot point/character.
It's like the Rubberman, which was much scarier and more mysterious before they revealed who it was so soon.
As far as the rights go, I don't even think Slender Man is that original of a concept that requires buying rights? I mean, this is a music video in 2005 (before the Slender Man meme in 2009) that features a very very similar character...
It's such a creepy concept though, a mysterious man stalking you. I'd love it to be similar to that video in a way.....what if they got Julia Roberts?
Sorry to burst your Internet folklore bubbles, but American Horror Story is NOT taking on Slender Man. Contrary to several reports, E! News has confirmed the upcoming sixth installment will not be about Internet meme that started in 2009. According a source, the new season will be announced sometime in March and it's an idea that has been hinted about in previous seasons.
Repeat: Not Slender Man.
Now go through and watch every season and come up with a theory as to what's next.
