or that she completely mismanaged her career by trying to compete with Britney instead of realizing her niche is to go against the Britney thing and appeal to the anti Britney stans at the time.
Avril knew
Pink knew
If people wanted pop in the 00s (Britney, gaga and Rihanna), 10s (Rihanna, Katy, Taylor)
If people wanted latin pop in the 00s/10s (Shakira, Jennifer lopez and that thalia chick)
If people wanted urban pop in the 00s/10s (Alicia keys, Beyonce and Rihanna)
If people wanted pop rock in the 00s (Pink/Avril/KellyAshlee simpson) in the 10s (Pink)
If people want soulful vocals (Adele, Kelly, mary J.)
If people wanted performers in the 00s (ciara, JLO, Britney, Beyonce) in the 10s (Beyonce)
So where does Xtina even fit in when she mismanaged her career and confused her audience with underwhelming results despite strong promotion in her hey day a Nicki tea.

There is a reason that Take A Bow is Madonna's biggest hit in the United States. She won't perform it because she feels like she it is too sad and sentimental to end things on (the say goodbye at the end with the strings fading away is pretty sad tbh).

I don't get it either because it was honestly the hit that made people accept her after the Sex era.
Sure she had a few hits in between but Take a bow SHUT down the haters and was the last hit pre Ray of light. It was an important song in her career yet she pays it dust

Yeah people kinda overrate Shania because of the whole nostalgia factor. They would do the same thing for Britney if she hadn't destroyed her career with horrible music and ruined any credibility she had. That being said if Shania did want to come back to music I think there would definitely still be a place for her and she's hugely impacted country.

Britney tarnished her career she didn't destroy it but I think you actually have to have faves that have had the longevity for people to understand it.
calling them nostaligia acts is disrespectful and downplaying their legacy.
People feel nostalgic about Barbie girl, Mickey, Ice ice baby, mmm bop etc.
That's not the same thing as having a legacy of 15+ big hits WW and having the ability to still be viewed, played, booked etc.
Then you overrated an artist that had not one not two but three diamond albums in the US.
COme on over is the most certified album by a female artist. 20x platinum and prior to that she had a 12 xplatinum album and then a 11x platinum album.
taylor is the shania/britney of today but let's not oversell her to have had comparable impact/influence/legacy and success just yet
