Host commentary: I was so tempted to call this Flaccid Werthers or Hillary Clinton in the title. But I let it have its moment. My least favorite Madonna album by a solid mile. I think it is her least inspired work even if it is more cohesive than MDNA or True Blue. It most definitely did not deserve to outlast all of the early 80s. I’m perfectly fine with Madonna making music that doesn’t really have a message other than escapism through music, but it just doesn’t do anything for me here.
LoveLiveMusic's guest album commentary: Hard Candy is an awkward middle ground album that seemed to just be a the leftover beats from Timbaland and Pharrell’s albums. None the less, while the production of the album still sounds like it could fit alongside current radio, it just seems to be where her future albums began to have too many producers it didn’t sound as cohesive as this was her most at 7. I find it’s easily digestible and sounds like a refreshed version of her first 3 studio albums.
Host commentary - I just love this. My favorite of the two Forbidden Love's and one of my favorite Madonna ballads. I need her to do more songs with Babyface ASAP. The whispering in the background just adds so much to it and the production is so lush.
Guest commentary Reinvention - Confessions version remains unbothered
Subomie - The better of the Forbidden Love's but still... it's only okay.
Yes, Hard Candy was Madonna being free and having fun with an album for the first time in over 20 years, possibly since her debut, and I love it for that.
