Matty, what do I look like in your mind?

Scoring and ranking these entries are kinda hard. I'm having a difficult time deciding on how hard to weigh the actual lingo vs your argument vs your brand.

I picture Edge as a Mexican/Asian hybrid with a bottle of Jack Daniel's in one hand and a bottle of penicillin in the other.
Sometimes I picture her in ladies underwear and heels when she's feeling fancy. Tiara optional.

Close!
I have a bottle of Patron Reposado in one hand and a fan in the other. I usually wear a kimono with white make up on at all times and two joints instead of chopsticks in my hair.
I'm always prepared for business.

I've heard people talk about that Disney College but I never really understood it. It's like an internship? Sounds kinda like slave labor.
But congrats!

With the amount of hours it could be considered slave labor. Imagine working MK. And yeah, it's a paid internship. You pretty much work and live at Disney World/land for 5-8 months. There is a separate professional internship where you do something related to your major.

I've read that around 30,000 people apply and they accept around 5,000 (500 for Disneyland). And you stay at one of 3 apartment complexes right off Disney property.

Love the incorporation of the anime strip. It was different from any entry I’ve seen so aesthetically, I enjoyed that. The slew of examples you posted would have been more effective had you shown the customized quotes (“Originally posted by DOMINO”) instead of regular quotes. Also, I would have liked to have seen the threads in which you were responding the way you did but that’s not a deal breaker for me. As for the actual lingo…no. Random French phrases being inserted here and there are fine, not innovative, but fine. However, 1. I don’t see that taking off nor have I see it take off 2. “Allo quoi” is a direct rip off of H-I-M’s little schtick 3. I just don’t like it. I also see your examples being rather similar to one another. ¾ of the examples were questions and 4/4 had a gif tied into it. Is your lingo already being limited from the get go? As for you being “Slassy,” what better way to be classy with a bite than using French? I thought it worked.

The examples were really nicely laid out with the thread titles giving it the context it needs, although, it was one too many. My eyes were assaulted quote after quote but it is nice that you drew your examples from a (somewhat) wide variety. As for your lingo…I loved it…too bad it already happened for a hot second. The concept and usage of “Miss Thang” is amusing to me because it’s actually really funny when used correctly but the fact it was used as an entry after I said “Miss Thang” has already been done raised a red flag. I remember myself, as well as TSS, going through a little phase with “Miss Thang” in the past and I felt like there wasn’t really any creativity surrounding this lingo. DOMINO was rather reductive as well but at least he created a broader category and added in some other French phrases. However, I will throw out there that “Miss Thang” fits “Boujetto” perfectly from the prefix to the spelling of “Thang.”

Now why would you give me two examples with images and one without? The sudden shift from left alignment to center alignment wasn’t very “diamond” of you. I love that you came up with a stereotypical member like “BeyonceSlaysYesGAWD ➭;” it cuz it compliments your examples well. “Diamond” seems like it has potential to become a hit lingo, but when you think about it, it is very pigeonholed, at least in my opinion. Any joke you make with “diamond” has to circle around existing phrases and facts for it to have that humorous edge and out of the three examples, only the second and third example really worked. And while you said the second post was complimentary, it was more shady than anything, which brings into question the lingo’s versatility. I think the lingo would only catch on when used as it was in examples 2 and 3. And because I find shade funny, I thought there was humor in your entry. That being said, I have seen your third example (“cubic zirconia”) being used when people were trying to make fun of Rih’s Diamonds when it first came out sooo am not a fan.

I'm also in love with the formatting yet again even though I'm in no way judging that this round.

Right of the bat, I can’t tell if I like your choice of colors or not. I think I decided on liking the concept of sweethearts being used as the background image but hating how the pastel colors all blend into one another, which ultimately made it look really busy. Layout aside, I don’t think you found ATRL’s next big lingo. “Sweetheart” isn’t really infectious (said subjectively cuz I personally don’t like it that much) and I’ve always associated it with a man using it to talk down to a woman. I know father’s calling their daughter/wife sweetheart is common but I always drift towards the negative connotation of it and on ATRL, the condescending tone will be the standard over your “sympathetic enough to be classy” mantra. Even in your examples, condescension was the prevailing tone in all three posts. I also wasn’t a fan of your intro blurb. The challenge was supposed to find the next big lingo and the lingo should speak for itself. As for your examples in response to “Sweetheart,” I found those to be not very effective. They weren’t really responding to your usage of “sweetheart” but more towards the rest of your posts as they contained some inflammatory comments. I can see where “sweetheart” could be seen as “sophisticated” but I see it being shadier. Maybe this is another one of the moments where I think something is completely shady but another (Katie) thinks is supposed to be cute.
OH WELL.

I saw more optimism in your posts as a mod in HQ than I see in your entry. The first half sounded like an elongated definition from Urban Dictionary with the second half being the examples for said entry. Didn’t really quite taste the Retro that I’ve gotten to know aside from the layout/format but as I’ve said, I’m not a fan of your presentation this time around. The white on the sky blue background had me straining a bit; I think the contestants are forgetting that the judges are in the early, mid and late 20s. WE DON’T LIKE TO SQUINT. As for the actual lingo, I appreciate how you’re the first contestant to find something that I have yet not seen on ATRL. Having said that, “Schwam” is a derivative of the already existing words on ATRL. I’m assuming “schwam” is a harder, balls to the wall version of “clock” and “drag” but do we really need another word like that? Though I do appreciate you using examples of “schwam” as a standalone reply and as an integral part of your reply, the tone of the words already seems to be covered with the words that are already on ATRL. I wish you came up with a phrase or a style instead of a word. With your newfound position, members are more likely to cling on and imitate their authority figures and it would have been a great platform to get a new jargon out there.

One too many elements going on; reminds me of all the tacky collages we made in high school with magazine cutouts and Elmer’s glue. I love that you created a new (?) term and got that submission to be represent on Urban Dictionary. Having said that, why did you submit the same thing twice? Every single thing you wrote on your cluttered entry was on Urban itself. I know formatting was an issue at the beginning of the competition, with you being a bit sparse, but I feel like you’ve gone too far the other way now. The presentation of your entry was very “social,” in my opinion; it was very spunky and pep rally. However, I would have liked to have seen a dialed down entry with just a nice banner and a bit more substance. This entry was basically all fluff and I say that because the examples you provided weren’t the greatest. I wish you utilized it in the context of ATRL, aside from the played out sexualized posts, and I wish you provided different examples from the ones you submitted to UD.

As one of my faves, I was disappointed with this entry. It was very lazy and uninspired. While I do think “ever the…” could catch on, it’s basically the same as “always the…” which I’ve seen many members use, including myself. As for the layout, it was standard, similar to DOMINO, but without anything extra. And no, the banner doesn’t count. As for you representing your brand, I didn’t really see “humor” with any of your “ever the…” responses. Some of the posts you’ve quoted were kinda funny but your actual examples were not punching correctly. Also, I would have said that it would have been nice if you added in the thread titles for each of the posts, but then I realized how all six of your entries were from the Top Member thread. It’s almost as if you forced your lingo on us but no one really picked up on what it was…the antithesis of what a catchy lingo is supposed to be.
