I honestly don't understand the hype for "Happy", it's good but that's it but yeah, it's giving me heavily Blurred Lines teas with the slayage that it will cause

I just saw the sales from Umich's thread. Stop being such a freaking prude.
It's really strange how XO is so low still. I mean even Adele had huge single sales while her album was selling.
Well that's because Adele did a traditional, singles-centered promotion for the album. Beyoncé's album release was completely different so I don't really anticipate there being the same level of single sales that Adele had.
XO and most of the album is the kind of slow, low-key stuff that don't really sound like smashes.
Set Fire to the Rain, Rolling in the Deep, and Someone Like You are all quite catchy and not as slow.
It's not a great comparison, but Susan Boyle and Norah Jones sold amazingly despite their individual songs not doing much. I think Bey's album is selling well because it's likewise appealing strongly to the kind of older audience that doesn't really do iTunes.
His songs are all starting to sound similar
