I need more character development, it was never teh biggest strength of the series, but rewatched the season 5 episodes. I mean just take the whole Emma betrays Henry thing. I mean whether Emma was the Dark One, he was so easy to forgive her I now it is just a series, but damn it took him like 1 episode to get somewhat over it I mean I don't need soap drama into the series, but this all was too easy. The character roster is pretty big to give enough focus to everyone, with some characters just being " there"
Also still semi-mad that Dark Swan ended up, the way she ended up. This teaser looked so promising, like she was so twisted and lunatic crazy in some way in comparison to saviour Emma. It was wasted potential. But oh well hoping for better in 5B and hopefully 6.
The 'Hook' focus is actually making me lose interest in the show... It's such a shame it was one of my favourite things ever..

I 100% agree with both of these statements.
I will keep watching but the shows direction seems so different from earlier seasons. One thing this show did well was villains and lately they have been very lackluster. Dark Hook and Emma were annoying imo. Then in 4B, I loved Cruella but Ursula and Maleficent could have been used a lot better. They peaked with villains at Zelena in season 3.
Wait, they haven't done Aladdin yet right? Please leave the entire of season 6 for that. Could be epic.
They already did Jafar (played by Navin Andrews) in that flop attempt of a spin off they made. It's highly unlikely that they will bring him back for this mess.
5A was getting SO good, the Camelot storyline (and even the Dark Swan thing) was great. Sadly they literally tore it all apart in the last 4 episodes (since Merlin's death to be precise), it's like nothing made sense at all. Season 6 needs to be the last, otherwise the show will end up cancelled with a rushed mess of a final episode.

Agreed!! 5A was so good until the last couple episodes. They totally ruined it. Merlin was a great addition to the cast as well. He had a lot of potentially great story and dynamic to add. I mean, I was still on board with Hook being a Dark One, but that final episode was AWFUL. The most disappointing episode for me. It had so much potential and just ended up being so ruined.
The thing was, Emma knew what Nimue wanted. Nimue even said that. The dark ones were all connected. So Emma knew there was a portal to the underworld there. She could've easily just sent them all back to Storybrooke and went to the underworld to get him. Rumple was still there and he was the reason they were able to get the portal open in the first place. Idk, it was just so stupid. Oh, and turning Rumple back into the Dark One was disappointing as well.
I watched again the season 5A : the most is good.... But I totally agree : there's too many details and stories, at the end not everything has an answer.
I think Arthur's story will drop just like the others (I'm sure we'll never know who Lilith's father is)
I hope Season 6 will be the last, Idk how they could do something still decent til then.
The show's most horrible mistake was deciding the shift the focus away from the Emma/Regina/Henry dynamic with Snow and Charming's relationship as the side plot and at times counter balance.
Adding Robin and Hook made us focus on unrealistically developed love storylines and having them do so just to eliminate the queer subtext that was honestly the heart of the show affected the quality. I'm not against those storylines but it was obvious why they did it, if they had established the roots of those relationships from the first or second season (ala Graham/Neal) then it would've worked. Instead we got two people being declared soulmates within literally 8 episodes.
Snow and Charming's baby was also a mistake. I understand they had to work around Ginnifer's actual pregnancy(s) but it tied them to a rugrat that was nothing but a plot point for 2 episodes.
I dislike the character and actor for Henry but the best episode last season was his first crush and Emma and Regina uniting to Mom together and offering such different perspectives. And then it tying into the storyline! It was pure season 1 .. Ugh so disappointing.
Why is it that the only thing Regina can do with magic nowadays is make fireballs and mix potions?
Because if they'd allowed her to really use all of the magical abilities that we've seen her display over the last 5 seasons, or allowed her to be as intelligent as she actually is, their 11 ep arc would've been cut down drastically.
This arc was highly dependent on the unrealistic suspension of logic from most of these characters.

I just hated that we had this amazing preview of evil Emma, only for the "real" villain to be Hook. And that didn't make sense because he was just fine and normal until he was actually aware he was the Dark One. Once he had become conscious of it, he turned crazy. I guess I was looking for more of a story of Emma actually being evil and seeing how easy it is to fall to darkness. Similar to a struggle we've seen lots of the villains fall to.
I'm re-watching some of my favorite episodes before next Sunday (!!!) and am noticing how big of a part Snow and Charming played in everything! I am only asking that they get their own BIG storyline this half of the season--they deserve it. I know that this is all about saving Killian, but Adam and Eddy also added that there is a much bigger storyline that goes beyond saving Emma's true love. Does anyone else feel this way? In all honesty, as much as I adore Lana (she's my favorite character on the show), if they don't have enough time, they should move her storyline back so that Snow and Charming can have something of their own. Not like what happened with Charming/Arthur in 5A; I want a real storyline that lasts for multiple episodes other than missing their child.
James will be coming back, though, so I hope they will do a lot with him.
