I was thinking about the surprise, maybe she is performing her new single at the Billboard/MTV awards and was going into rehearsals or doing the choreography the other day for the first time. It would explain
1) Why she was so nervous
2) Why she couldn't Tell Us
3) the Punk/Rock surprise (theme of the single/performance)

in order for this to smash in "California Gurls" type fashion, we need the single released by the beginning of May, with an adds date around then, too.

RCA is laaaaaaaate on everything. sometimes it really works out for them (ie. Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" not having an adds date until January 2012, even though fans were dying for it), but mostly it's just frustrating and they miss out on some opportunities.

trying to be as objective as possible: if she wants a summer smash, it HAS to have an adds date near the beginning of June at the very latest. so, hopefully, that's as long as we'll have to wait for new music but who knows

I honestly think RCA might be on the right track. I am waiting for the announcement basically. I think the may single/billboard performance might actually work. I actually think this will happen to. It's a great exposure to start her smash era!

They could be saving it all up for Ke$ha, who knows, she can pretty much sell herself, however this era won't be successful if she isn't doing live interviews and performances

This is exactly what I was thinking. I have a feeling they are going to mirror a similar scheduling to what Katy did with the "Teenage Dream" era. She'll have the first single out in May, the second in late July or early August, then the album by late August. That formula has been proven to work well. I hope RCA is considering something like it. She's playing that festival in August as well, so that kind of leaves some clues.

Agreed, it also depends on what else is out at the time, however I think May would be good timing because the fun. gotye business will settle down and i don't think any of the huge pop girls are releasing anything new anytime soon. She might have to look out for where have you been, but that should be peaking in a few weeks
