""Beyoncé's" iTunes launch is also the second-largest digital sales week overall -- counting all digital retailers. It's second behind the debut frame of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," which sold 662,000 downloads in its first week. (That number was enhanced by Amazon MP3's decision to sell the set for 99-cents for two days during its first week. Billboard has estimated that Amazon MP3's 99-cent version resulted in 440,000 copies sold.)"
At least Beyoncé proved that HDD doesn't update by retailer but by however much they want to at any given update lol. Congrats Bey. Was hoping she would beat BTW's record.
why would people want a physical album for BEYONCE that badly though? The videos are 60% of the appeal of the album, and they work best on a digital player ala iPod, iPhone, etc.

You get a DVD for the videos, which is better watching the videos on Itunes player or on your TV?

Aside from wanting to own such a monumental album physically, it would be great to just have on in the background on TV while you're doing stuff, having people over or something, as well as some people who are interested in her music may prefer CDs over mp3s because that's still how they consume music and want to watch videos on a TV not a computer or iPhone. And then there are all the super fans who just want to get that booklet.

The packaging is the funnest part though. I like to own things that I like, not to mention it's a historic album and just owning it will give you cred in the future and mean something special. Like when you go through you parents records (vinyls) and find an iconic album you didn't know they owned/liked and realize how cool they were at your age.
