Ke$ha isnt even platinum yet, Miley Cyrus couldnt even go gold, neither could Christina Aguilera.
Alicia Keys, a huge album seller, only went platinum.

Ke$ha is a new artist, I wouldn't compare the two. Alicia Key's 4th studio may have only gone platinum, but it's widely regarded as a flop because of that. Sales are all relative, what's impressive for one Artist is not for another. Platinum is an achievement for a new artist, not for someone who has been in the industry for 5 years and who has had 7 #1s.

This should be the second single from his album. It could be a big multiformat hit.

That's the thing. With BR it was a sound that I was not used to hearing from pop music. It was raw and harsh and looooong and not happy. But unlike say, Telephone, it was forward-thinking and very brave and bold. Despite its big choruses, it was a risky song to put out.
OG on the other hand, like Telephone and all sorts of club-bangers, isn't particularly different. It's not bad, but there's nothing really fresh or distinctive about it IMO. I'm not sure if the fact that it hasn't grown on me is because it's "different."

I see what you're saying, but Only Girl if you think about it, is close to being a true House track. In the US, House music isn't exactly popular. The base and beat in the song goes is harder and heavier than most songs heard on the radio in the US.

I made some edits, I really need to double-check what I write.

Exactly. With GaGa it took a while for both PF and BR to become the huge hits that they were because they were totally different form what people were used to at the time. It took some time for listeners to adapt and that's why they climbed towards the top of the chart and both had tremendous longevity. OG is a song that is going to appeal to you on first listen or not at all, it's not really a grower, it doesn't have much depth. I like the song, but it's nothing new or exciting.

I agree.
The song has a potential to be a huge hit and a possible future #1

Do you think it could do well on pop radio? With a proper edit of the chorus, I think it could. Urban would be easy for it to smash.
Lil Wayne's verses are great, & Nicki's chorus gives the song an anthemic sort of feel. I see big potential for it.

Are these up to date? I didn't realise the situation was so dire.

I don't see Rihanna as an album artist anytime soon, I think her persona doesn't appeal as much as you could imagine after 4 albums. I highly agree with that article og the trinity of pop and why Rihanna is not in there.
I'm not complaining though, casual listeners don't buy albums anymore, so if she keeps bringing the huge hits, she'll be remembered

It's my favorite from his album. I hate Wayne's second verse, though. Nicki

I'm not sure if Lil Wayne's verses are good for pop.

That IS dire, 3 top 10s, a no.1, and only 5 million total. She needs help selling singles.

Bad Romance grew on me ONLY after the video, I though the song sucked when it leaked, but after the brilliant video I realize how brilliant was the song

Did you see her single sales? They're not impressive either.

Being a fan of GaGa I guess perhaps my standards are set too high, but compare her sales to GaGa, Ke$ha and Katy and I think dire is an appropriate word to use to describe the sales.

Really? The numbers aren't terrible for the era's standards, but comparing to what she came from it's a mess. 5 million sold is the total of one song for some artists.
