She had a 4m selling Country debut album, a sophomore album that opened with almost 600k, was selling consistently and had sold over 3m by the time of the VMAs, and turned her into a crossover artist....she had two smash crossover hits that ended up smashing on Top 40 from that album. She was winning a fan voted award and was a hyped performer that night for goodness sake.
