This is too all of the haters saying Alejandro had no impact....:hey****you:. It did have impact, which is why it propelled it into the top 5 of billboard with falling digital sales and falling/stalling radio airplay   |

But the streaming did come from the video right? And that means the video DID have an impact. And with the digitals, no one was specific enough and actually said "Alejandro's video had no impact on its digital sales." So making that assumption out of thin air is like trying to nail water to a piece of wood  |

When people talk about an impact of a music video, they usually mean digital sales.Quote:

So making that assumption out of thin air is like trying to nail water to a piece of wood | The digital sales pretty much stayed stable. On iTunes it fell because the songs ahead of it did better. I believe I read somewhere than "Alejandro" sales went down 3 or 4 percent after the video, which is pretty much selling the same as last week, just a few hundred copies less. So, yeah, it's video really didn't have an impact that people wanted. And for future references, since you don't seem to be able to read between the lines, "I hope _____'s music video has an impact" almost always means "I hope _______ 's music video has an impact on digital sales." Besides, most people were posting that in both the iTunes thread, and Hot 100 thread, both referring to the Hot Digital Songs chart.  |

So since no one was specific enough to say so, you can't assume everyone was talking about digital sales. And the point I was trying to make was that the video had no impact AT ALL when in fact it did impact the chart.  |

The two charts are not really alike at all. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number-..._%28Ireland%29
I think IKAG debuted at number 4, but it was rush released due to cover versions popping up on iTunes. I expect CG to debut at number 1, I'll be shocked if it doesn't. | I only meant it in that CG appears to be one of those big songs shared in the number one spot by all the English speaking countries, and that Ireland was another English-speaking country it had reached number one in was even more indicative success in the UK. Songs like Fireflies and OMG. HSS is of course a counter-example to that but I can't see that being the case at all.
I understand completely the differences between the Irish and UK charts. I'd imagine it'd be just as annoying to an Irish person when they liken it to the UK as it is for Canadians when people liken it to the USA.    |

When I saw the Alejandro video, I realized how much it isn't very likeable or shocking like GaGa's previous videos. After seeing her previous videos for the first time, it was like the song was reborn. For example, after seeing the BR and Telephone videos, the songs suddenly became 3597943267x better just because of the epicness of the videos. In a way, the video for Alejandro did NOT have that affect on me and kind of made me like the song a little less. I still love the song, but the video in a way ruined my view of it. The video was just too dark and depressing for the song that MTV has called "Song of the Summer." I really can't see myself chillin on the beach and listening to it anymore.   |
