I think some form of recurrent rules should exist. I mean... people already complain about how slow the charts are now, imagine if they removed all rules and let all songs have these 100 week runs similar to Billboard 200?

Drink You Away should've definitely been allowed to chart though.

In my opinion, the chart isn't slow at all. It does an excellent job at reflecting hits with longevity (I still hear UF! and SUAD a lot, but not so much CFTS, for example) and would only be more accurate if there were no recurrents.

The simplest argument for no recurrent rules is that the Hot 100 is a popularity chart. What's the purpose of having a popularity chart if you're going to pick and choose what songs can be on the chart based on their age, thus ignoring their popularity?

I think there needs to be recurrency rules for the Hot 100, but 26 weeks (or maybe 30) is the right amount of time, not 20 weeks. I would like to see Billboard start publishing a Comprehensive Singles Chart though, which would be an unofficial Hot 100 without recurrency rules. That way the fans could see how all of the songs are doing without any recurrency rules. Just don't make that the official chart. Keep the Hot 100 the official chart, and increase the recurrency rule week total to 26 weeks. That needs changing!
