It's really difficult for me to read some of these ignorant comments. Putting aside Nicki looking out for Nicki (which we all do, don't act all high & mighty now like y'all ain't looking out for yourselves), are you unaware of the way Women of Color are treated in the industry? REGARDLESS of her motives (which I think are quite justified but whatever), she's shedding some light on a very important topic. WHY is it difficult for you to say "she's right, the entertainment industry does snub blacks more than whites" or "Yes, black people are definitely stereotyped & stuffed into a little box". I don't know whether y'all want to believe that racism has been completely eradicated or you really just don't give a ****, if so, be quiet.

The reason there's an issue here is exactly because of her unjustified motives.

No one's disagreeing with her point that black women face more difficulties in the industry because of racism.

The reason this issue exists is because Nicki was mad about herself being snubbed, rather than black women being snubbed, and she lashed out at other people (ie., Taylor) because of it.

Nicki only started talking about racism (and her statements on it are correct, but not applicable to this very instance) once she was called out on that.

I think people seem to think we're saying Nicki's wrong about her statements on racism. They're accurate, but they do not apply to this situation because she was mad about herself being snubbed & lashed out at Taylor in the midst of it, rather than what she claims it is.

She made valid points about racism in the industry and double standard in the media. Did you see how same magazines made her out to be a crazy black woman and used a nice picture of Taylor? They are mostly writing think pieces on that and also nobody wants to be labeled a racist. None of this is Taylors fault though and Nicki was just being bitter and pathetic to make the VMA thing about race. Media will side with her for like a few days and than NOTHING is going to change. Maybe they'll throw her a bone next time so she can shut up. She;s still not nominated for this award and Taylors still going to win. Actually scratch that they might give it to Beyonce to save being called racist again.

It's weird because most media outlets are siding with Nicki, and then you scroll through their comments section and most posters sing a different tune. I mean, i just saw an article on this from allhiphop.com and the comments were dragging Nicki through the mud

The press/bloggers are finally noticing how "white" the feminism that Tayor prescribes to is, and while she was dumb to walk into Nicki's temper tantrum (granted, I've now come to think Anaconda should have had a VOTY nod due to taking navel gazing/male gaze and shoving it down people's throats) it sets up a debate over race and feminism that the press has pretty much ignored.

Plus, honestly, Taylor was due for a backlash and this was the perfect setup.

Did anyone even read those articles? Its just the clickbait titles that make it seem as if they side with Nicki, most are just decribing the entire situation and quoting other people rather than making statements of their own and the ones who do turn everything into a race issue completely ignoring the other factors(the other nominees for VOTY and Nicki's clear jab at Taylor).
