Icon: When she prove she wasn't a one hit wonder, at the very latest when she prove she wasn't a one album wonder.
Legend: When her career dies and people still remember her fondly.
Copy and paste the above for all female musicians who focus on hit making on this topic. (Must be massive smashes though, obviously, not two random top 20s)
Katy will deff become a legend eventually if she has another like 2-3 slayoncE era's (as in successful tours, music, awards, movies). she is the type of artist that needs to keep proving herself as an all rounder to be considered a legend. however like I said she has already reached the maximum of icon status
Wait so according to the replies in here Beyonce legend status was questioned, Rihanna will never become one but Katy Perry is 1 era away
Lmao yall are funny
ppl who question that Rih will become a legend eventually are silly tbh.
its inevitable. you cannot have so much impact in sales and fashion ect for over 10 years and then not become a legend eventually
ATRL overrates single success, but I mean I dont expect much from people who ignore my post on the whole legend thing because they know it is the truth.
People do not remember how many #1 songs Whitney had and they do not care. All they know is she had quite a few, was on top of her game during Bodyguard, is the voice behind IWDWS, IWALY and OMIT and some other tracks, and most importantly, had one of the greatest voices on this planet.
So what do you need to become a legend? Tons of singlesuccess? You definitely need some, but if you reached a certain level, u need more than that. U need universal acclaim and respect for ur craft, u need sth unique about u (like ur voice or performance quality or creativity or sth of that sort) and u need signature hits as well as eras that will last a lifetime. Also, signature performances are always good to have, moments with which people solely associate u with that event.
Pop Icon: after the end of the Teenage Dream era
Music Icon: after the end of the TDTCC era
Pop Legend: After the Super Bowl Halftime Show and PRISM era in general, continued being #1.
Music Legend: Not yet. I personally think, and I hope, she'll become eventually. She got the guts to do this.
