Should I give up, or should I just keep Chasing Pavements
"When the U.K. press began dubbing Adele "the next Amy Winehouse" in late 2007, the hype didn't touch upon the heavy singer/songwriter influence found in the Londoner's music. Influenced by Suzanne Vega as much as Jill Scott, Adele first made an impression in 2006 when she toured as an opening...", this is a short paragraph explaining what a talent Miss Adele truly is. "Chasing Pavements" is a love story gone wrong in Adele's life. Adele found out that her boyfriend was a homosexual, and she spent the night chasing pavements after him. She's had an amazing year. Winning the prestigious Sound of 2008 award, plus being awarded big in 2008 at the Brit Awards. Her single was banned by American radio because they thought it was slang for something very rude. Her voice is beautiful, it makes you fall to the knees, the girl is a national treasure. This is the only song by Adele in the countdown.

You got me begging you for Mercy
On first listen, you immediately think of Dusty Springfield. On first glance, you immediately think Dusty Springfield. Duffy has the whole package to become the next Dusty. Hearing music like "Mercy", you realize right away how much talent Duffy has. You don't want to let her go from the music scene, she is exactly what the doctor ordered. "Mercy" which is a mix of 60's rock and 21st century pop, has some of the catchiest lyrics on a track in 2008. "You got me beggin', you got me beggin', mercy!", I mean how easy is that to remember. This is the only song by Duffy in the countdown.

Your gonna make me, make me love you, nothing at all, nothing that I do.
Girls Aloud are the UK's biggest pop band. Breaking records right and left, this became the girls fourth number one single. Just like Madonna, they reinvent themselves with a different style of music on every album. "The Promise" showed a 60's glampop style. In comes the instruments, is it a trombone, is it a saxophone? And then, "1, 2, 3, 4". The song starts. I remember the night of the premiere. ATRL was going crazy waiting to hear the group's new song. Upon hearing it, you knew this was an instant classic. Although Duffy had showed us the 60's in 2008, Girls Aloud made it their own. This is the only song by Girls Aloud in the countdown.
Happy New Year everyone!
