What is the point of arguing over the meaning when you can get it straight from the horse's mouth? Lady Gaga: atrpop could mean anything! See, even Gaga doesn't know what it means, the title is that abstract! The meltdowns, excuses and needle in a haystack searches for deeper meaning are funny though.

I still don't get how she's going to "deconstruct pop music" while making pop music. Without it being a blabbered mess of hiddened messages, that is.

She's going to take the classic pop, timeless stuff; evoking Prince, Cher, Elton John, Michael, Queen, Beatles, Elvis, Madonna, David, Britney, etc. but turn them on their head and make "the future."

She's also trying to make herself into a tragedy like Lilo - you can already see the beginnings of that. She's making herself into the star of her own movie, like what Joaquin Phoenix did.

And she be all that's left when the fame is done with her.

Imagine the Marilyn painting; now imagine the painting being of Andy Warhol himself and stripped of all color.

That's what I think she's trying to do. Deconstruct Pop and leave it to be fixed by others.

ARTPOP isn't The Fame 2.0; it's more like Emaf Eht 0.2.

As I've said before, and will continue saying:

It's not the theme she's going for that I don't like. I think the theme is great and is way more interesting than BTW. What I don't like is that she's naming the album what the theme of the album is going to be. I feel it's uncreative to saying you're inspired by an era in art, or a specific style in music, and naming the album what that style or time is. For example, Ke$ha is doing **** Pop for her next album, but I'm sure she is going to come up with a title more creative than **** POP. If an artist is inspired by the 70's, they aren't going to name the album 'The 70's'. She's saying, I'm inspired by Warhol and Pop Art, so I'm going to name my album ART POP. I think the title could be way more iconic and creative. She can promote the album as ART POP and explain the theme when she's talking about the album, but naming it that, just seems like she couldn't think of anything.

I mean... is Gaga as deep of a songwriter as Michael Stipe? No, but that doesn't mean that her lyrical content is surface deep.

That's the whole point of Gaga - to create catchy, fun pop music that can be analyzed if one wants to do so.

I just want to reply to people saying she doesn't have he career planned. That would make sense if you couldn't go back three years and watch interviews where she talked about thinks she's currently doing. She mentioned BTW two years before she created it. She mentioned ARTPOP back in 2008. She mentioned TFM when she first began. She said that she has her first five album/eras planned and has always had them planned. Obviously she doesn't have every single concept, song, photoshoot, etc. planned, but she has always known in which direction she wanted to take her career. You think she would have been able to effortlessly transition from TFM to BTW if she didn't have it planned? Plus we know how much she loves to foreshadow.

Anyways, thanks for this great read! I will never understand the fuss over the title because it's just a title. Words are boring. Most titles are boring. I don't get the tizzy everyone is in because of a six letter word.

Does !~~~*~*~*~*ARTPOP~*~*~*~*~*~! look better and less boring?

That's the unknown part of the equation. I'm thinking melodically it will be classic but the production will be "the future."

Also to the "you guyz over analyze tew much camp": The media is picking up the story of the album title announcement only just today. Today also happens to be Andy Warhol's birthday.
