Kinda, but Denzel's star-power alone is enough to carry the project, plus he's busy now with Magnificent 7. Fences would be overshadowed if they premiered it now.

Viola knew she would be a lock for an Oscar win for The Help if she went supporting, but she didn't want it. She wanted to go for lead.

The studio wanted Bruce Dern to go supporting for Nebraska, but he refused and got in lead instead.

On multiple occasions, Meryl got a lead nom for movies when there was someone with way more screentime than her.

Every year there's always a push and pull for category placements.

Nocturnal Animals looks AMAZING. I can already tell I'm gonna love this, the cinematography alone.

A Single Man is probably one of my favorite movies so I hope this lives up to my expectations. Tom Ford should make more movies.

This is the first time I follow the oscars closely, does the academy have any say in what category placements people get? I know with the Tony awards the American Theatre Wing gets to decide who goes where. It seems fairer that way.
