No one teaches like that...they taught that that was once what divided regions and made areas like states (west virginia and virginia) but its not the case anymore

So you are practically saying that there are 8 continents??
No he's saying that many millions of years ago, New Zealand used to be connected to Australia, it broke off of it and most of what broke away is submerged underwater. Today's NZ is only 7% of what is used to be in size.
