School really messed up my updating schedule this week I'm on winter break now though so I should be back and updating every day. Thanks for all the comments

YEAHHHHHH!
Believe me I tried my very best to like Ellie. But it was literally impossible. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard, I only listened to ACH in full once and it was very difficult to sit through four minutes of her singing.

I don't like "WHYB" I think is kinda annoying
The Ready Set "Give Me Your Hand (Best Song Ever)"
Even though I think this guy is destined to be a one-hit wonder, you can't really fault him for it; he's trying his best to create another hit that pop radios will eat up. The song is probably his most generic yet, but for some reason I don't mind, it's so catchy and fun and I think it's really cute how he tries the talk-singing before the choruses (honestly, it isn't half-bad). Also, the production really enhances the song rather than drowning out the singer, which I think was a big problem with many hit songs this year. Hopefully after this single comes and goes he'll be able to give us another Love Like Woe-type masterpiece. But until then, this is good enough for me. This is the only song by The Ready Set in the list.
Miguel "Adorn"
I hate when Miguel is compared to Frank Ocean. Honestly, he's so much better than that boring wannabe "artist". I love Miguel on his R&B slow jams like Sure Thing, and with Adorn he showed how he could still bring the great vocals and charisma on a more upbeat song. Since it is more upbeat, it makes sense to me why it became his biggest hit yet and even made a minor crossover to pop radio. In an era of music where R&B is slowly dying it's songs like this that need to become hits in order to bring it back. I just hope he doesn't become an artist like Trey Songz, who releases some great R&B songs and then drowns them out with his clubby dance crap. This is the only song by Miguel in the list.
OneRepublic "Feel Again"
This band goes from Top 10 last year to almost off the Top 75 this year. This was a very disappointing lead single choice, it's like they lost everything that made them original and tried to be like every other pop-rock band out there. I could easily mistake this for a Coldplay or The Script song. And while I do love those bands, OneRepublic needs to stick to their style if they want to continue having my support. I mean, the song is catchy, and Ryan Tedder's vocal range and consistency is very impressive (one of the reasons I've always loved 1R). But I expect to see stronger efforts on their upcoming album. This is the only song by OneRepublic in the list.
Katy Perry "Wide Awake"
Pop fans can rejoice now and they better make it last, because this is one of the few appearances any big pop girl will make in my countdown (well, I don't consider Avril, Pink, or Kelly a big pop girl ). Many of them especially Rihanna and Britney are very annoying and overrated. However, I can't deny that Wide Awake is a very good song. It isn't overproduced like so many pop songs nowadays, it allows for a great vocal delivery. I don't find it that generic either, it's a huge step up from Part of Me in that respect and it has more of a style that is uniquely Katy. It actually reminds me a little of Give Your Heart a Break, one of my favorite pop songs of the year and the song that made me a Demi fan. So congrats to Katy on one of her best singles, I hope she can continue releasing music like this in the future. This is the only song by Katy Perry in the list.
The Script f/will.i.am "Hall of Fame"
I was expecting the worst when I heard this single featured will.i.am, and so I was actually pleasantly surprised when I heard it. I really have to give props to Will, he adopted to The Script's style very well and seemed like a natural part of the song. However, if you consider this solely as a song by The Script, it's a somewhat disappointing one. While songs like Breakeven and For the First Time grew on me slowly, Hall of Fame quickly burned out, I added it to my playlist in September and replaced it with Six Degrees around a month ago. And despite having all the elements of a classic The Script song, with the piano, the sweeping chorus, the drum machine, it just didn't feel unique overall and it certainly doesn't stand out in their discography. Overall it's a decent song, but it won't prove to be the huge hit they had hoped and I can see why. This is the last of two songs by The Script in the list.
SafetySuit "These Times"
I often find myself slipping and calling SafetySuit one of my favorite new discoveries of 2012, forgetting their single Stay that I loved back in 2009. However, it's almost like I am discovering a completely new band. Their style has evolved so much over the years, they've gone from a soundalike rock band to a really versatile HAC band doing all different types of music. These Times is one of their slower songs, and it has a great if not slightly cliché message. I wish the chorus was a little more developed, only because I know from Get Around This and Hallelujah what a great voice Doug has, and there's huge potential to use it. But I guess that would be asking for too much, when I can already appreciate the song for what it is. This is the first of two songs by SafetySuit in the list.
Neon Trees f/Kaskade "Lessons in Love (All Day, All Night)"
Another song that barely made the cut for inclusion in the 2012 list. It was a brave move for Neon Trees to collaborate with a house/dubstep producer, and while his influence in the song was kind of drowned out, I still applaud the effort. The best way I can describe this song is a really cool and sultry song in the classic Neon Trees style. Of course, it's not as upbeat or in-your-face as Everybody Talks, which I personally prefer. However, I just can't help but love it, Glenn has such a unique voice that's perfectly suited for a pop-rock band like this. Plus Neon Trees always have the best videos This is the first of two songs by Neon Trees in the list.
Christina Perri "A Thousand Years"
As much as I hate Twilight, it does produce some great music, evidenced by Christina Perri's ballad A Thousand Years. I was sure she would be a one-hit wonder after Arms flopped, so first of all congratulations to her on getting a successful second hit. Moving on to the song itself, it may be a bit cheesy but the sentiment is so cute, "I love you for a thousand years, I'll love you for a thousand more..." The song never takes off and stays soft and mellow throughout, which is an interesting technique to use since pop radio is generally unreceptive to ballads, but it really worked for Christina and it's always been one of my favorite soothing songs to listen to. I have to say Christina beat Bruno this time on the battle of the Twilight songs This is the last of two songs by Christina Perri in the list.
Hot Chelle Rae "Honestly"
This is the song I always credit with re-sparking (?) my interest in HCR. I loved them first with their song Bleed, then came their commercial success; ironically those two singles wore on me the quickest. And then came third single Honestly. It was love on first listen, I can't quite explain why I always like these type of pop-punk bands but this song fully embodies that reason. The song is sung in a very high key with minimal production, I'm surprised Josh could hit all those notes and it just shows how versatile his voice is. The message is so carefree, talking about the narrator's breakup with his girlfriend and how he doesn't care about it, just wants to go party with friends all night. It makes me sad cuz I wish life could always be that easy But overall, a surprisingly great effort from HCR, their best single from this album by far. This is the last of two songs by Hot Chelle Rae in the list.
The Wanted "Glad You Came"
It's sad that this band always gets so much hate on ATRL. I mean, I can kinda understand why, with the lead singer dissing all these celebrities including One Direction. I certainly don't endorse his actions, but I think it's time for people to see past those comments and realize their music is actually pretty good. I love the way this song starts out all soft and mellow, and you're thinking it's gonna be a ballad. Then the accordion (or whatever you call that instrument) comes in, and it explodes into a huge dance-pop song. I think people take this song too seriously, I mean, it's not meant to be a whole new sound or a lyrical masterpiece. It's just meant to be a really enjoyable song to jam to, it serves that purpose very well and as far as dance-pop goes this is one of the best songs I've heard in the past year. Definitely one of my favorite discoveries of the year (well technically it was 2011 but you know what I mean ). This is the first of three songs by The Wanted in the list.
Believe me I tried my very best to like Ellie. But it was literally impossible. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard, I only listened to ACH in full once and it was very difficult to sit through four minutes of her singing.
As I mentioned to Mikal, her voice really is an acquired taste. It just so happens that I enjoy it and others don't. It's so weird, because I really wasn't a big fan of singers like Ellie before Ellie, and now, I've fallen in love with Ellie-like singers.
Honestly, I don't understand why 1D gets the love and The Wanted are the ones who are crapped on here. I certainly don't mind The Wanted, at least not as much as I loathe 1D. And my Christina Perri crush has made it through to the end of 2012.
