Barely any promo? Sweetie, she has the #1 SONG IN THE COUNTRY. That alone is enough to sell 250k first week, and WITH Black Christmas and the amount of followers she spammed on Twitter, she should have done at least 600k-700k.
Niece should we take a look at Drake's huge list of promo to see what went wrong?

Doesn't matter if you have 5 #1 songs on the radio if people don't KNOW you have a new album out. I mean she just came out with a new album a year ago and many people think that WFL is just an extension of LOUD that's why actual promo (TV appearances/interviews/performances) is important. That being said, that's the price that Def Jam/Rihanna pay when they decide to release albums on a yearly bases when her previous album is still fresh on people's minds.
1. She's coming of a very successful era, dubbed the "biggest pop star"
2. No major leak, only about a week before.
3. She's been around since 2005, she should be established by now.
4. Every single minute on the radio a Rihanna song is on.
She should be able to push over 250k just on her name alone.
