Also Adele's '21' returns from no.4 to no.2 (down 2% to 245.000 copies) and breaks through the 12 million border. It's the first album since 2002, which sold more than 12 million copies in only 10 months!
I saw that one of my classmates from high school and college got this CD and he's into mainly Hip Hop. He had a picture of it on his Twitter. I'm glad this album is crossing genres.
Considering the current economic climate and the fact that people just don't buy albums any more, this album is selling (relatively speaking) as well as all the albums in the list of best selling ever, with the exception of Thriller. IMO.
Adele's "21" rises 5-3 (113,000; up 8%), marking its 39th straight week in the top five of the chart -- its entire chart run since it debuted at No. 1. In turn, it sets a record for the most weeks an album has stayed in the top five, since its debut, in the chart's 55-year history. It surpasses Michael Jackson's "Bad," which racked 38 straight frames in the top five following its bow at No. 1 on Sept. 27, 1987.
