I have so much to say, I fear the post can't handle (and I am already aware nobody will read it, but it's more something I will write for the sake of it and because so many friends are awaiting for this. I have mad friends I know )

It truly depends on what you like or expect from them.

Out from a sort of poll based on 25 of my friends (10 really into M5, 7 moderately into them, 3 indifferent, and 5 mostly never impressed by them) these are the tracks that get praise:

Lucky Strike and Doing Dirt (typical pop and groovy tunes);

One More Night (universally liked)

The Man Who Never Lied,
Sad (if you are up for something simple and pure)

Up with the general like are Daylight and Beautiful Goodbye because they have the simple structure of pop/rock tunes that are most similar to what Maroon 5 used to produce in the past, sonically.

I personally love them all, and if you are into a darker sound, Tickets also has its perks.

Actually I have so variate taste in music I share preferences with people out of any music preferences... Maroon 5 are not even that polarizing for our group...

What I like is that people not into them always explain from their point of view what doesn't click with them and so you can have a real perception out off from your liking instead of what can actually be a flaw or a minor point.

To just receive a "they suck" reason wouldn't help any review

I think I won't be able to write anything before this evening... too much work at office

maybe tomorrow morning (I'm bracing because I really want my friends to read this all )

I am not very impressed by either of these two compared to the other songs, but I tend to prefere Fortune Teller (which has some line in the melody that remind me too much of Love Somebody, thing that somehow distrurbs me) solely based on the fact that the subject of it (unlike tickets) still Adam's ex girlfriend, so the lyrics sound truer to me than those on Tickets, which are referred to - probably - Mickey Madden or James Valentine's exes instead.

Tickets has more of a sing along feeling, sure, but still it got me a while to get into it and that's why I don't like it like the rest of the album songs (personal preference of course )

I never thought M5 could overtake LP... the two fanbases are differently sized; but I do believe in the long run, M5 will probably sell more than LP (in the US).

If they wanted a number one album they would have chosen another release date, and they would have.

I am sure they are pretty okay with these figures; and I am happy for LP because that album is better than their previous.

I listened through a friends to their Spotify explanation and commentary at each of Overexposed songs and it reinforces what I thought about the album...
It's actually a VERY personal album...
I have to include these new shades of colors in my review.
Tomorrow morning, in the quietness of Italian Saturday morning, I will finally post the review.

I can just say the more I listen to the record the more I love its sincerity.

If they had used the RnB and Soul sound it would have been called a masterpiece, while this sonic easyness they dress the songs with detracts attention from the fact half of the songs in there are so clearly and heavy personal if one understands them, it's hard to not feel something tingle inside.

I still get eyes wet when I listen to the way Sad is sung, and what it says.

I have to say after hearing Wasted Years "new version" a few more times, I actually see the point of its inclusion and that way, too

I need to find a way to listen to those commentaries, I wanna hear them!
from the first time I listened to the album, I felt touched by the songs and that some of them were more sad than the upbeat music lets on. like the songs about saying goodbye, Daylight and Beautiful Goodbye, then Sad of course and also Wipe Your Eyes, they make me tear up when I listen to them and I can really feel emotion there. I think that's something a lot of people fail to see and where they underestimate the album, sadly. it shouldn't be dismissed just because of the poppy, seemingly boring sound.
