If you just read the lyrics to alot of songs... they would seem awful. Let's just wait for the actual song to pass our final judgement. I have no doubt, that it will still be an epic.
I wouldnt call the lyrics horrifyingly generic. Of course they're pop-generic, but it is about as nongeneric as an anthemic inspiration song can be. No one wants an inspirational song with tricky lyrics.

I much rather hear something like this with actual thought put into it than hearing some line from an anti-depressant commercial - do you ever feel like a plastic bad drifting through the wind.
However, I feel that the lyrics come off contrived.....almost trying TOO hard to create awareness and boost self-esteem. If someone else gets their kicks from this song or talked off a ledge, then so be it and I'm glad this song was used for good.
However, in my personal opinion, the lyrics are nice in parts but overall do not gel as a cohesive song.
