Stats: Joanne crosses 800k worldwide | Lady Gaga: The Receipts

Most of her WW stats are very, very, very outdated. It's impossible to track them, unless Interscope decides to post a breakdown of some kind, unfortunately
BTW & Telephone are close to 10M, but we can't know for sure if they've surpassed it. For Poker Face, Just Dance & Bad Romance, we have receipts to back it up.
The UK need to update her stats as well. They keep linking that 2013 article when people on Twitter ask for Gaga's biggest selling hit there

So I stumbled across this thread and I need some enlightenment http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=660494
So The Fame and The Fame Monster DELUXE together sold 15 million and then the individual EP went on to sell another 3 million? Or is 17 million all three combined?
I currently have them all together in the OP but I can separate them to make it look like this:
Quote:
The Fame - 15 million* (disclaimer about sales also being from TFM Deluxe)
The Fame Monster EP - 3 million
Born This Way - 7 million
ARTPOP - 2 million
|
I would need confirmation that they are true, of course.

It's unfortunate but this is why I call them "estimated" record sales in the OP. Also, a publication as large as Billboard would not post false numbers. Some time before they mentioned 143 million singles, they brought up that she had sold 125 million singles. I trust them and it makes sense with how global Gaga's peak was.

The Fame sold about 4-5M before November 2009, when the deluxe edition was added to it and then shipped together. At the same time, The Fame Monster Standard EP with the 8 tracks was released in limited number of territories, including the US (where it sold about 1,6 million copies). It wasn't released in the UK for example.
Since then, the deluxe edition has sold an estimated 15-16 million (debatable since it had so much longevity and it went on to sell well for years and years) and the standard EP sold and estimated 2,5-3M copies worldwide.
So, if you count The Fame Monster as an entire era (Deluxe + Standard EP), it should be at about 18,000,000 albums sold.
I can also confirm the Cheek To Cheek has definitely passed 1,2 million worlwide, since it passed 1M about a year ago, in february 2015, and went on to sell about 200,000 additional copies in the US alone during 2015.

I'll update Cheek to Cheek's numbers, and for the sake of not blowing our heads off, I"ll also keep The Fame (Monster) as one.
It's crazy to think about how Gaga sold 10 million additional copies in a 1-2 years span with the deluxe edition.

In the last OP, the album sales had a section labeled "Other Releases" that tallied up to 2 million. This included things like the Remix albums, Monster Ball DVD, probably the Cherrytree Sessions, etc.
It would be great to find sales on those to see if they are still at 2 million or more. I know for sure that The Remix sold 500,000 copies.

The Fame Monster EP did NOT sell 3M
It's at 2M, 2.5M is already pushing it. Its official certs have it at 1.86M, and it wasn't even released on its own in most countries. 3M is a reach. 2M/2.5M if you want, but certainly not 3M.
As for the "Other releases", here are the KNOWN stats for those:
The Remix: 720k
Monster Ball: 70k
BTW: The Remix: 60k
Very Gaga Holiday: 42k
I have no doubt they all sold more than that, but with no sources to back it up, it's hard to estimate.

These sources are where she's credit for 143 million singles, but your reasoning is why I'm considering them "estimated" sales:
- Billboard
- AXS
- Microsoft
- MTV
As for Applause, I really want to say 5 million but the last WW update I saw was around 4.5 million.
The original OP had ArtRave at $90 million, probably because 5 out of the 79 tour dates were not reported. If it grossed $1,050,000 on average per show, the actual gross is closer to $88,500,000. I can update that.
Roseland Residency has been added.
|
Only 1 show didn't reported..The other ones were festival dates not only her show. So its 83,600,000 or 85,000,000 if you want to add the Stockholm one plus the roseland.
The Fame (Monster) did 15mil worldwide
The Fame Monster EP 2mil
Born This Way 7mil
ARTPOP 2mil
C2C 1,2mil

30.2M albums is a mess in the OP. Aren't we agreed that:
TF(M) = 17M (including EP sales of 2M)
BTW = 6.5-7M
ARTPOP = 2M
C2C = 1.2M
The Remix = 1M
Other releases = 250K(?)
Total: 27-28M. A shipped number of 30M even seems a little high.
For singles:
JD's US numbers need to be upped to 7M (total 11.5 total?)
PF's US numbers need to be upped to 7.3M (total 14.5-15M?)
Presumably her single sales go (roughly):
Poker Face - 15M
Bad Romance - 12M(+?)
Just Dance - 11.5M
Born This Way - 9.5M
Telephone - 9M
TEOG - 5.5M
Alejandro - 5M
Paparazzi - 5M
Applause - 4.5M
LoveGame - 3.5M
Judas - 2.5M
DWUW - 2M
MTN - 1M
GUY -
Total: 86M+

She'll definitely cross the 30M mark with LG5 & the Tony Bennett new album.
30M in her 1st decade sounds great!

The Born This Way Ball final attendance is 1,781,850.
(Asia: 313,365 + Oceania: 212,544 + Europe: 609,143 + LA: 349,944 + Africa: 96,427 + NA: 200,427*)
And I'd say that the final gross is around $184,4M.
(Asia: $43,9M + Oceania: $27,4M + Europe: $58,5M + LA: $26,5M + Africa: $5,6M + NA: $22,5M*)
*Pollstar Year-End (2013), other numbers are from Billboard Boxscores.
And the artRAVE grossed $83M for 920k, not 948k. The only date missing is the swedish one. So I think the final numbers are $83,2-83,3M and 934k but it's sad that it can't be confirmed...

They def. shipped more than 30M albums - and that's the figure Interscope would use if they were to report her sales to a publication or something.
Billboard reported that Born This Way shipped 8M WW in 2011 (+1M), Artpop actually shipped 2.3M in 2013 alone (+300k) (and I have no doubt they kept shipping it in 2014) and Gaga said in one of her shows that she sold 20M with TF(M) (& EP) (+3M). That'd put her at 31.5M / 32.5M according to Interscope.
That'd also put her at 117.5M records sold WW, without any SEA / TEA included + outdated numbers for most of her hits.

Applause - 4.5M

Add 6M for "other tracks" (Venus, Dope, Boys Boys Boys, Starstruck, Monster...) and you have:
29,2M + 87M + 6M = 122,2M. Since WW numbers for singles are outdated I think we can say she sold around 125M WW (albums + singles) for sure. 140M for next era here we go!

Yes at the new OP. Finally.
Perched for when Interscope finally buy streaming certifications for her albums in US. I need all her albums platinum before LG5. The Fame possibly getting 7x platinum.

They seem a little high for shipments nowadays but who knows. Labels overreport for major artists but a 30M-ish figure seems probable.

artRAVE's gross goes:
$87.2M is the Pollstar number for 77 dates (missing Atlanta and presumably South Korea).
$83M is the boxscore number for 74 dates (missing Atlanta, South Korea, Quebec, Ottawa and Sweden).
Both average to about $1.12-1.13M/night.
Atlanta was a Microsoft private gig. South Korea, Quebec City and Ottawa were festival gigs. Sweden was never scored for Billboard. Pollstar managed to get numbers/estimates for Sweden and presumably the two Canadian festival dates.
Pollstar reported $88.7M for 84 dates which includes 7 Roseland Ballroom dates making $1.5M.

Yes, Billboard numbers are $83M for 920k (74 dates, excluding festivals). Put Pollstar obviously made mistakes with the number of dates like they do sometimes. For example, they counted 45 shows in NA but Gaga only did 38... They also reported a final attendance in NA of 472k and Gaga did 431k according to Billboard (excluding festival shows in QC, Ottawa and the private show in Atlanta), which means 41k for one of the non-reported show and it's too low for the QC show and too much for her show in Ottawa. So this is just mistakes. Gaga probably did around $84,2-84,3M WW without festivals.

The 45 NA dates from pollstar include:
36 artRAVE dates* - $35-36M (Billboard) / 431k tickets (Billboard)
7 Roseland dates - $1.5M / 24.5K tickets
2 Cheek To Cheek dates - $1.86M / 12.1K tickets
Total gross: $39.1M / 471K tickets [difference of ~4K tickets]
*Missing Quebec and Ottawa festivals; Atlanta not scored but included in the number of shows?
The 84 WW dates from pollstar include:
75 artRAVE dates* - $85.34M / 920K tickets (Billboard)
7 Roseland dates - $1.5M / 24.5K tickets
2 Cheek To Cheek dates - $1.86M / 12.1K tickets
Total gross: $88.7M / 948K tickets [difference of ~7K tickets]
*Missing: Quebec, Ottawa and South Korea festivals; Swedish show which wasn't reported for some reason
They may count tickets differently or something, but their gross numbers line up pretty okay with total shows.
Thanks to Gaga's hip, artRAVE technically was an increase in gross from the BTWB in North America
EDIT: I just realised that this would make C2C's total gross is actually
$1.86M (2014) 2 x Las Vegas dates
$15.2M (2015) 27 x NA dates*
Total ~$17.06M
*27 dates reported, but only 26 performed(?)
