"Roar" is still big on recurrent, though.

"Oh, well my radio station plays something different."
Irrelevant, not the point, no weight or validity, not even provable, etc.

I was speaking about songs by modern day popstars. Those songs are an entirely different case.
I Will Always Love You is kind of trash compared to the rest of Dolly and Whitney's discography though.

In terms of TEA, Teenage Dream is actually above Loud, I'll give you that.
But then Talk That Talk is about the same as Prism, and then Rihanna has another Talk That Talk/Prism-sized era with Unapologetic. A whole new album, more hit songs and exposure from it.
She's bigger this decade, not by a lot, but she's bigger.

Katy Perry is, indeed, the reductive version of Kesha.
|
Vin. If anything, they're both reductive Bonnies who simply had more marketable personas.

Why make the distinction though?

Hm, I should make a list one day of Pop Girl's their biggest hits on Recurrent Radio.
Mariah wins ofcourse since All I Want for Christmas Is You has kept going #1 for over a decade.

After the TIHWD video I definitely think Rihanna will have a much easier time maturing into her 30s as an artist.

I think the public has grown to love Rihanna's tone/voice.
When she first started out, her voice was a nasal hot mess but things started looking up once she started singing with her throat instead of her nose. I think Russian Roulette/Rated R era is kinda the mark when Rihanna's voice improved.

Radio is a good gauge of longevity. Let's face it; as much as Katy's songs are bops during the time period they were released, they get dated quickly. Much of RR, TTT ,and Unapologetic could be released today, tbh.

Katy Perry also didn't have to sleep with Jay Z for a
recording contract like Rihanna did. That's not a rumour, either.

And you had any doubt before
Unfaithful was already more mature than anything Katy has ever done.

Pretty sure Dark Horse was bigger than all of the non-We Found Love hits from Talk That Talk put together

Neither TTT nor UA has two hits on the level of both Roar and DH. All three Rih eras this decade combined fall short of TD alone in singles. Rihanna is slightly ahead, but chiefly because of touring.

Not every girl who slept with Jay-Z had the starpower and impact Rih had and currently has. That's all on her.

Things won't be looking good for Katy after this era is over. I can't wait.

Katy still has good recurrent airplay for her hits.
@you acting like those albums were released 15 years ago or something.

Dark Horse's urban bent is basically the formula that Rihanna used for success long before Katy picked it up.
