You were off base to insist that I condoned (endorsed) certain members' behavior and to draw the parallel between those individual members' opinions and general technical hotlinking guidelines, when as you know by now I don't see any direct comparison there at all. Like, I still think it's ridiculous that we got here from there.
HOWEVER, disconnected from all this ******** about nudity in the RT thread, I think the NHB situation is probably something that deserves to be discussed. We've struggled many times over the years with the content in the NHB thread and what to do about it. I certainly think these free unmoderated spaces are good things in concept, but it gets really tough when we actually come across people who can be so hateful and have to decide if there's a space for them to speak their vile mind as well. This problem extends way beyond ATRL (I mean, just look at these assholes on talk radio and FOX News and whatever that have a daily platform to extend their hate speech to millions of people) but it's a problem here too, it's a problem everywhere. We don't have all the answers, so it's good to hash it out.
This has been a remarkably civil debate for ATRL standards, so I've been interested enough in it to keep posting.
