There is ALWAYS curriculum in every school and state. It was around before CC, and it will continue if CC goes away.
CC looks pretty much exactly like the other curriculum maps I have worked with. The ONLY difference is now it is standardized nation wide for consistency.

Just because you personally aren't smart enough to use their methods doesn't make them bad
Besides. How easy or hard the method is is irrelevant to whether or not it helps students learn. If easy is your goal you should just stop teaching math and hand all the kids calculators in kindergarten.

This is just flawed logic, and does not take away from the good of Common Core. A math problem is going to be hard for anyone who does not really get math. That doesn't mean the standard for everyone else should be lowered.

Yes but the point of that is to make complicated math problems simpler. The method is weird for small numbers but when you want to subtract bigger numbers, everything works way better.
