I never saw LL being huge though. It sounded so much like Dark Horse and radio played that a ton, and people didn't seem to mind, but another might have been overkill.

I really have thought about The One That Got Away situation. lbr. She was able to stay in the top 10 of the Billboard hot 100 because after the video released and the song backpedalling a tad following the week of the video release. It was the 69 cent discount that drove the song higher on the BBHot100 alongside strong radio play top the top 5.

I think Katy got lucky to make the top 3 because with songs besides the ones that blocked her (S&IKI and WFL) there was It Will Rain and Good Feeling, both very big singles that each peaked at #3.

Although I feel bad it wasn't her 6th #1 from Teenage Dream, I still think after using the discount during the huge Christmas sales week and then dropping the B.o.B. remix the week of Christmas, if she didn't get #1 that way, I cannot say she was robbed of a 6th #1 at all

Now Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F), which was #1 on Radio and had been a best selling song for a number of weeks in the US (unlike TOTGA, I don't even think TOTGA was #1 on Radio aside from Pop Radio), if it didn't go to #1

I thought about this two. i remember there was concern that the acoustic mix of the song wouldn't count towards the overall TOTGA sales, which was probably why the B.o.B remix was released instead because I believe the acoustic mix would have picked up a chunk of sales

Yeah, B.o.B remix kinda did nothing. The acoustic version was fab though. If she released the song a bit earlier, it could have had a chance at hitting #1 tbh. Anyway.

She REALLY needs to deliver with the next album. Up until now she's done a great job at building momentum and making a really solid platform for herself, but now's the time where she does need to start taking more risks and have that MASSIVE era that nobody can deny. It's annoying seeing people point out that she's still so lacking in certain areas. She needs to keep the upward momentum and get another career-defining song, and her first career-defining album.

The only problem with PRISM for me was that I felt she was forced into trying to match TD's commercial singles success. Songs like Roar and Birthday were made for radio, and clearly released with the intention of being #1 hits. I think if her and her team accept that she's done as much as she can with the singles, and focus on making a really, REALLY good, solid, quality album, and a strong lead single, they can't go wrong.

Tbh she needs to ditch Bonnie and Sarah and reduce her work with Dr. Luke, otherwise people are gonna drag her for trying to replicate Teenage Dream again. She doesn't need to stop working with Luke outright but 3-4 Luke songs is more than enough.

For writers, I'd like her to work with Tove Lo, Robyn, and MØ. All three of their most recent albums have over a 70 on Metacritic (Robyn's has an 86 and was on several year-end lists). She has toured with Tove Lo and Robyn before so she's already acquainted with them. As for producers, she should do more songs with Klas Åhlund (except more Walking On Air than TIHWD, obviously), Diplo/Major Lazer, and maybe Bloodshy if he can give her her "Toxic" instead of another "Love Me". StarGate would also be a good producer because even though Firework and This Moment aren't that great lyrically they are both well-produced.

Of course she'll probably ignore all of this and have Dr. Luke produce half of the album again
