The hook has a very similar melody to a song that had already been released before the debut came out. The rumor is, I'd Lie got taken off the tracklist late because the still embryonic Big Machine Records was not big enough to battle in court.

I remember when song titles for JoJo's second album began leaking out. That was a funny and kinda confusing time. I mean, she was 15 and the album had songs titled "The Way You Do Me," "Do Me Like That," and "How To Touch A Girl."
