This is so true. She was on Katy Perry's level of fame before WFL. WFL was the song that made her an icon, and I believe Diamonds solidified her iconic status.

Rihanna has a ton of good songs but Umbrella and WFL are both on another level. I feel like Diamonds is just the placeholder for something even better to come along soon to complete the trinity.
Umbrella, Unfaithful, What's My Name, WFL and Diamonds are all very, very memorable. Rihanna is also much more culturally relevant than Katy. I never hear anybody say anything positive about Katy Perry in real life during the few moments she's talked about, although I did hear an 8 year old singing Roar today. No lie.
Most iconic star of your generation, like it or not. You have no choice in the matter. Kinda like how your parents are your parents whether or not you like it, she's the icon of your generation whether or not you like it.
