Rainbow is alright and songs like Heartbreaker, CTTA, After Tonight, Against All Odds and TGIFY would probably appeal to pop music listeners. And the latter two would appeal to basic music listeners. But other than that I was of the opinion that Rainbow is one of her most urban albums. It's a lot like a rapper's album in the sense she has a lot of features and collaborations and she also has more R&B and urban-driven stuff there.
Therefore, for pop fans, I'd like to suggest Daydream as a great starting point. Or Emancipation. Or even #1's just to get to know her discography. Then move onto the other ones. Starting on the first and working your way up is an interesting listen as you can follow her in different places of her life, hear the evolution of her vocals and musicianship etc.
I know I know I posted this anniversaries ago, but let us have a nice retro gyspy whatever moment here. Since she is so nice for a throwback.
The performance in itself ain't special (neither stage presence, dancing nor vocals - or lipsynching), but let us discuss a totally different aspect here: HER BODY! The Emancipation body is so nice. Very aesthetically appealing. Curves in the right places. Moreover, her style during that time was very classy yet sexy and mysterious. And not really try-hard. Lastly but most importantly: Her balloons Was just waiting for them to fall out tbqfh with that daring dress.

Also, I am very thankful for the nomination and those who nominated and "voted" for me. It's a rare opportunity. Of course, I felt sad when Enxe won the Vision of Love award. Here's the thing about Charmbracelet. Neither vocally, sonically nor lyrically (nor objectively ) is it her best work. However when a person is just tired (exhausted, upset), they dont need brilliant vocals or clever lyrics. There's a certain vulnerability captured on the Charmbracelet album which we do not find a lot of other places in her work (bar Outside, Petals, Thanx 4 Nothin' etc).
Edit: This is not an invitation to another one of these Charmy feuds.
Charmbracelet is actually very underrated vocally IMO, she hit multiple G5/A5's in each individual song, more so than any other Mariah record to date (most are hidden and/or hidden under harmonizing notes) and the massive multitude of vocal harmonizations must've taken FOREVER to record.
