Might as well stan for some plain R&B artist like Monica, Tamia or something. A typical Beyonce album has funk, world music, and everything. Survivor was the beginning of Bey exploring sounds other than your run of the mill R&B.

not Monica
I stan for R&B and pure music.
DC debut, Destiny Fulfilled, Dangerously In Love & 4 are pure musical albums.
B'Day and BEY are more like concept albums, full of messages. I love it; but slightly prefer pure music.
Survivor is basically a lot of dissin and basic 18 years old girls talk. the singles are pure excellence tho
I Am... side is basically Beyoncé trying to be someone she's not. ironically the Sasha Fierce side who is named after her alter ego is completly the true Bey attitude.

. I would still give most songs +7/10
because I love the diversity of the album, the pop appeal, and the fact it represents Bey @ her WW high point. Her Janet.!
I love The Writings On The Wall because it's just bop after bop non stop. the fact that it was their first album I bought and just like you I grew with this album. but I agree that the concept is an ARTPOP mess

It sounds like a greatest hit actually. I love this album. and hey in other news it got a 71/100 score on "pre-metracritic".
and just to remind why I stan for Bey is her beauty, her complete package and most importantly her Beyoncéness (attitude)
