That's how I see it too. We are seeing it now with JLaw and we've seen it with Anne Hathaway. I've seen it happen with Emile Sande in my country. We will see it soon with Lorde.
Anyway, Taylor remains the best selling American artist by a long way, so that tells the real tale of popularity.
All these criticisms are just over petty and trivial nonsense. Oh no, she danced at a concert, along with hundreds of other people (such as Lorde, and Beyonce) doing exactly the same thing. Oh no, she flipped her hair during a performance, cos no-one has ever done that move on stage before. It is so common we even have a name for it - head-banging.
The haters have to resort to such desperate reaching for trivial things to criticise because they have nothing else. Taylor is beautiful, stylish, is incredibly popular, is a touring powerhouse and wins more awards by the bucketful every year, and her albums sell like hot-cakes. Her career is going amazingly by every measurement.
She has no actual controversy. A young woman dating an unmarried man is not actually controversial or unusual in any way, no matter what some idiots claim. Maybe according to the Taliban but certainly not to the West in the 21st Century. People who pretend it is are just being hypocritical.
Using your life experiences to influence your art is hardly unusual either. It's about as common as sand on a beach. People who criticise those aspects are just making themselves look completely out of touch with reality.
The internet is full of human stupidity. It's a shame we cannot harness it as a source for energy, because it seems an unending resource.
