Considering Judas was a top ten worldwide smash, I think something beautiful could have been made from it. Especially since Government Hooker is far more interesting in its production and ideas. Though it probably would have been the promo single in place of Hair - which instead would have been the ballad Gaga chose for a single down the line.
I am asking myself how much it sold and if it had any longevity
Oh, we haven't bothered with huge smash single sales since the Born This Way title track came out and Gaga became an indie JPOP star. It's really only seen through Billboard due to the change in her career. That's how we can also say that Dope was a top ten hit as well (better than Judas actually!). She's become more of a streaming artist - less of digital sales. The consequences of staying away from promotion.
