Demi has never been an A-lister and Avril was like (one of) the biggest star out there during her peak. I remember watching the chart during her peak and not please when i see her name is not at #1 position.
Now, we get lucky if she debuts....

She should release something accoustic, with raw vocals, something similar to GL music wise but different lyrically. She should release some happy country music mixed up with a little pop/pop rock influence. She really needs good writers, David Hodges, Butch Walker & Max Martin were great but we need someone new, maybe Ryan Tedder or even someone like Sia.

Yeah, that ship left a long time ago, she doesn't seem to embrace that music/image any more, despite the "professional rocker" BS. We might get some "edgy" stuff (like Bad Girl) from time to time, but definitely not a whole album/era like UMS. When she released GL, I started to not really minding about her "rock persona" of the past that much, and now I know it won't happen.
I like what you propose, Falling Fast would fit that description, and I think it's one of her best songs. Tedder might work, but I haven't liked his work (for others and for himself) that much lately, so I'm not too sure. Sia might be good for her, but will she want to collaborate with Avril after she called her "bratty" a few years ago? Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see her work with a female co-writer and release it; she's worked with Skylar Grey and Bonnie McKee, but those songs never surfaced (except for Candy?) Her last female collaborator was Kara Dioguardi (Runaway).
I would like she kept writing (and producing) her own songs like she's done last albums, but limited co-writers/producers and not 5+ co-writers like she had last album

I would actually be in it for that! I'm liking Bieb's current hits And Avril better date him too so she keeps the Canadian royal couple under her belt.

Regarding Avril's 6th album, I think she will have all the artistic freedom she so wanted. I'm thinking Epic will be considerate of her especially after all the struggles she's been through this past year. With no regards to Get Over Me, I believe Avril is preparing a more serious approach in her music (LG = fun/carefree; UMS = dark; TBDT = fun; GL = sad; AL = mess fun) I just hope she finds her sound.

Please no I just don't want her to collab with these youngsters, or be associated with them. If she's going to be featured on somebody's song, I want someone her age, that sends their music to AC/HAC. Because she could benifit from the radio appeal. I mean we all know radio has sabotaged her singles ( See What The Hell: 40M A.L.)

I loved Ryan's work with Demi on her last album ( Wildfire ), I would have loved if she had a song like that. She should work with more female writers. I believe it'll help write about new topics. And speaking of that, I want various subjects, concepts, topics.. on AL6. She must start singing about something other than just basic love & heartbreaks or just having fun. She can actually write about life, darkness, self struggle, her illness, backstabbing friends, messy abusive & not so carring trash husband , gay love..Etc I really like Florence + The Machine's writing style, she should take notes from them
And yep no multi co writers this time, the most should be three people. She should start writing songs herself, not just one song but like the whole record, even if she's not going to inculde them, it'd still help her to improve her songwriting skills.

But how was TBDT generic or GL childish? I mean Avril's no pioneer but she's definitely never been as bland as Meghan - excluding her self titled effort.

A collab with a relevant artist would put her in the map again. Not a trash with Nick Carter

Demi has never been an A-lister. At least when you compare her to Miley or Selena. Demi is the Xtina to Miley's Britney.
Hooking up with another non-A-lister won't help Avril in the least bit.

From a singles perspective, the singles from TBDT (except for Girlfriend) and GL were generic. Lyrically speaking, every single she's released since 2007 have been childish.
As for blandness, I don't mind all the ballads on GL or AL. But something could've been done with the lyric-writing and production values to make those songs more ear-appealing.
Taylor's Wildest Dreams, for example, would've sounded boring without Tay's dreamy songwriting and Max Martin's glossy production.

I said the same thing about her when AATB started smashing, look at her now, she's having her 4th top 10 in the US, and her success in Oceania is just amazing.

All of the people in my life that I've talked to think AATB is a helluva terrible song.
Meghan's advantage is that entertainment media and record execs focus more on newer artists (like her and 5H) than on a pop girl who's been in the business for over 10 years. That's because newer artists are more marketable to younger crowds.
Sometimes a fresh-faced pop artist will have one hugely successful era and fall off significantly afterward. It's happened before. Rn, off the top of my head, I can't name any one artist that has suffered that type of fate.
If Meghan ever flops in the near future, Epic won't care, and she'll end up like Karmin and Cher Lloyd.

I really like the collab Despite Nick's vocals...
I don't agree with the majority here: having limited writers. Avril's much better when co-writting because her writting skills are weak. Let Go had a bunch of co-writers and the lyrics are much more deep than any on AL.
Also she should stop with the radio-friendly "hits" because it's a waste of tracks on the album. At this point, she should just do whatever she wants because her public perception is in the pits
I'd like for her to pursue sounds like Alice - that instrumental is E V E R Y T H I N G - or maybe embrace 17 in a more stripped down version like the Viper Room performance
Finally, she needs to move on from the bratty, clichê ( FLY) lyrics and expose a more softer, vulnerable and mature side à la GYWYL, Nobody's Home and Everybody Hurts.
