She clearly isn't lying about it; she is only repeating figures given to her by someone else. It is completely likely that 5M copies have been shipped. 2M were shipped in the US alone, remember. Her label have probably relayed that information to her and she has posted it online.

If she says she nearly sold 5m copy's she isn't really lying. Shipped copy's are copy's already paid for.
