I legitimately scratch my head every time I hear people saying RH is her worst record. The melodies are top notch (Ghosttown, Hold Tight, Joan Of Arc, Wash All Over Me, Messiah, Rebel Heart, Borrowed Time etc.) and the "rebel" tracks are hot and bonkers (Iconic, VVV, BIM, Best Night etc.) and songs like Devil Pray, Body Shop and Inside Out are just so unique and amazing.
There is so much passion and classic Madonna songwriting in this record. It just has this apocalyptic, urgent and nostalgic feeling that captivates me. The run from Holy Water to Rebel Heart is probably one of the best sonic journeys for me and I don't think the double album concept would've worked at all. Okay the productions of some songs are kinda wack (JOA, HBC etc.) and there are mixing/mastering glitches everywhere and some songs don't flow into each other, but it doesn't take away the soul of the record. I will forever be the biggest defender of Rebel Heart MDNA could've been great but I just don't listen to chipmunk sing. And don't get me started on those disgusting drums on GGW and TUTR.

I agree so much!! To me rebel heart really does capture the paradox that is Madonna. The fact that Madonna is such a paradox makes her such an interesting person to Stan for. For example she has songs that has that 'no one can stop me!!' Feel to it (BIM, just like give it 2 me, like it or not and human nature), but at the same time she has songs that suggest that she wants to leave all the fame and antics behind (rebel heart, wash all over me - just like older songs such as how high, let it will be, American Life, drowned world, etc.)
